Unseen Adventure with Not Worth Seeing Sights.

This past Monday I experienced the ‘Morning Saigon Unseen Adventure by Motorbike and Scooter’. My guide Adam communicated easily and promptly on WhatsApp which made it a simple process. Unfortunately, he texted me at 8am he was going to be late and didn’t show for another 30 minutes, not off to a good start. He quickly ran through the itinerary, and we were off! Our first stop was one of the highlights, the memorial to Thich Quang Duc, a very moving dedication (see attached photo). He explained about the brave monk and showed me a gory video on his phone. The other highlight seen later in the morning was the Thien Hau Temple, he didn’t have a lot to say about it other than it was old…we sat around for 15 or 20 minutes chatting about his schoolwork? So much for a tour. Adam was a very safe driver and I felt very comfortable on the back of the scooter. We visited a shop for Vietnamese coffee (yum) and saw their underground bunker from the war, we also saw the neighbors bunker with lots of guns and such, not what I would call a highlight! He said it was for protection from B-52 bombings, but I really don’t think that was the case, I think they were a bit north of here. We zoomed through many streets but didn’t stop to explore any of them! We zipped through a local market and I asked to walk through it, no-can-do! We zoomed through the flower ‘market’, a few shops, and an area where there are a millions and millions of used scooter parts shops. Maybe if I was a scooter mechanic, I would have enjoyed this, but I am not and didn’t. How can this be a feature of a city tour?! Lastly we went for some soup, the first shop was closed so he found another a few minutes away. It was filled with locals, I really did not enjoy the ‘soup’ at all. I made an excuse that I don’t eat meat, and from there he took me back to my hotel at 11:30…amazingly the 4 hour tour was over in 3 hours! I gave him a nice tip and said goodbye. Where was the floating market and the ‘so much more’ it says in the listing? With all that said it was a cheap way to spend a few hours but it really didn’t let me experience the wonders of Ho Chi Minh and let me appreciate how friendly and wonderful the people are here. Caveat emptor!

A good tour . Our family enjoyed it and it was great value for money . The only issue was persistence to provide a review whilst we were heading home (on multiple platforms - even ones we aren’t associated with) . The tour company needs to improve on that aspect - apart from that our family enjoyed the tour .

Despite my prior skepticism, this tour REALLY did take me off the beaten path to see fascinating sides of Saigon (aka, Ho Chi Minh City) that you otherwise just don't see with the standard tours inside touristic-centered district. Because you're on a scooter with your guide (my guide was the EXCELLENT university-educated, super nice, Lee) you not only get to experience the crazy energy of this city, but you see everyday modern people going about their real days amid the special markets, temples, and historical monuments AND it's all new; you do not repeat any of the stuff you would see on any of the usual tourist area tours.

A fun tour with some improvements to be made

We booked this tour the night before. We enjoyed buzzing around Ho Chi Minh City and felt safe the whole time. The food and drinks that were included in the price were great. Elly and Tiffany were our guides and were friendly if a bit unexperienced. The explanations for each place were repeated too many times and we got bored. A more interactive format would've been appreciated, including asking questions and getting to know us a little more. Overall, we enjoyed the tour but I'm not sure we would recommend to family and friends.

We were with our 2 children of 13 and 17 years old. They had never ridden a scooter and loved it. The places visited were typical of Vietnamese living places. Don’t wait for a visit to the most famous tourist places. The team was very friendly.
