Overview

The rural villages, tiny islands, and lush rice paddies of the Mekong Delta lie just over an hour’s drive from Ho Chi Minh City. On this tour, set sail along the Mekong aboard a traditional sampan and experience local life on Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise islands. The Mekong Delta experience was extraordinary! Our guide Daisy and our driver Tâm are fantastic, professional, and kind people who convey all their love and passion for their work. We were picked up from our hotel at the agreed time and headed to the Mekong Delta in a comfortable minivan with a group of about ten people. We visited the pagoda and then headed to the islands with a boat ride. Here, we saw the locals' daily lives and tasted many typical products. The two-person boat ride among the coconut trees was beautiful. We had lunch there, and it was all delicious. Our guide Daisy was truly knowledgeable and kind. We returned to the hotel at the agreed time, enriched with awareness and knowledge after this activity. It's an experience we recommend to anyone passing through Ho Chi Minh City, and we can definitely recommend the agency where Daisy and Tâm work!

A day in the Mekong for tourists

Ostensibly this is just a food tour with some boat rides thrown in. It's a pleasant enough way to spend a day. The Buddha temple is fine but not overwhelming. Perhaps I'm just too well traveled . There's no adrenaline hit here, just a cute easy going day out. Sally (our guide) was nice and bubbly.

Canoe ride through Mekong Delta

It was great to get out of the city. Loved the canoe ride through the Palm Groves of one of the canals through the Mekong Delta River. I wished the ride was a bit longer as it was just wonderful to be out in nature.

It is a nice tour with impressions of the Mekong Delta. Unfortunately all the sights want to sell you their products for ridiculous prices. It’s a little bit like a tourist set up.

Wonderful day exploring the Mekong Delta

We had a wonderful day exploring the Mekong Delta. Our guide Heidi was very knowledgeable & made the experience very enjoyable. We saw a pagoda and some huge Budda's, travelled in 3 boats of various sizes, visited the candy factory where my partner got to taste snake wine🤢I wasn't brave enough to try it. We had a ride in a Saigon Mercedes (a motorbike with a trailer attached, which transported us to out lunch venue), we did a little bit of traditional cooking before our delicious lunch. Then it was time for a bike ride to work off the calories. After this we saw some crocodiles, snakes, toads & catfish in enclosures. Some of our group were able to feed the crocodiles & catfish. Then it was off to sample some very tasty tropical fruit & listen to some beautiful traditional music & singing, after which we stopped for a small glass of green tea, sweetened with local honey & tamarind juice. We were shown the bees on the honeycomb & were even encoutraged to hold one. We visited Unicorn Island on our way back & all the way along our journey, Heidi gave us an interesting commentary which made the area come alive. I can thoroughly recommend this tour. Definitely worth your time & money.

Our trip to the Mekong Delta was a great experience and definitely worth the day. Levi was our guide, and even though he looks very young, he was incredibly engaging, confident, and knowledgeable with the whole group. He explained everything clearly, kept the energy up throughout the day, and made sure everyone felt included and comfortable. The itinerary was well planned and gave us a really nice overview of the Mekong Delta lifestyle, culture, and scenery. If you only have one day to spare from Saigon and still want a meaningful Mekong Delta experience, this tour is absolutely the way to go.

We had a great time with my partner on this tour. Our tour guide, Otis, was friendly and knowledgeable, he shared some interesting information about the places we visited during the tour. The tour included lunch as well and we got to try some local dishes. I'm vegan and our tour guide helped organise meals for me too.

Never have I been on a day tour that had so many activities and experiences, and so many different modes of transportation (van, boat, canoe, bicycles, jeep). The cultural experiences and the food were great. What really made the experience wonderful was our tour guide, David. He was enthusiastic, so knowledgeable, so helpful, and made everything so fun. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ok tour - filled with activities - maybe too many

It was a good day but the order of what we did didn’t always make sense and felt rushed. Would prefer more history and interaction with other guests and tour guide. Our guide left us at lunch without explaining any of the dishes we were eating and it was a very awkward and uncomfortable hour.

Although the day was well spent, it was highly touristy. The demonstrations on coconut candy production, bee keeping and hanging a lonely python around one’s neck were staged strictly for tourists. We were herded towards various vendors for buying opportunities, but not harassed into purchasing. We still enjoyed the day spent outside Saigon and seeing the countryside. As long as you are aware of these activities, the day can still be worth the ride.
