Ohhhh boy

This is regrettable to write, as it is the only time I haven’t given a tour 5 stars. I’ll start by saying that our tour guide was very good and the sites we visited were worth a visit, and I’d overall recommend doing the activities included in the tour. Despite this, the driver was so awful that it ruined the overall experience. I have taken long day trips dozens of times all over the world, and never had a driver this bad, I’m not sure it would be possible. It started with him coughing about every 20 seconds through the entire trip, 3 hours each way. Throughout the trip, he was the slowest driver on the road by a mile, imagine going 35mph down the highway with everyone passing you going the speed limit of 60. The entire time he was swerving in and out of the lane, driving in the middle of the road, and getting honked at by buses, cars and trucks that he nearly swerved into. Halfway through the trip the air conditioning broke, and then to top it off, the car broke down on the side of the highway and we had to taxi back to the hotel. I can’t stress how awful and unacceptable this was. It was so bad that it is comical to look back on. The driver never apologized or seemed to care about us at any time. I told the tour operator about this after the trip and was told he would not drive for them again. I easily could have given this 1 star but again, the guide was good and the tour operator was nice and flexible with things given that it was Lunar New Year time. Assuming they hire better drivers, this would be a worthwhile tour. It’s a shame that this experience had to happen.
