Amazing tour. Firstly, we were blessed to have an amazing guide in Yolande. She is so incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the rich history and culture of New Caledonia. So friendly, warm, and welcoming to my family. Having a great guide makes a world of difference, and we definitely got the best.
The tour itself. From booking through to arrival, the information and instructions were very easy to follow, and locating the tour departure point was really easy. We were welcomed by the lovely crew and directed to our guide and our transport for the day.
On the way to the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, Yolande talked about some of the past and present history of New Caledonia, as well as all things chief Tjibaou.
The Cultural Centre itself is a very impressive piece of architecture. We were led through tge facility, having each area explained whilst also having time to explore ourselves.
Outside, Yolande imparted her vast knowledge on New Caledonian culture and traditions to us. We were shown through three traditional buildings, and boy, were they impressive. Getting an understanding of what their purpose is, how they are constructed, and how they are still an important part of the community.
From there it was off to the WWII gun emplacements on top of one of the hills. Quite impressive 360° views of Noumea, local islands, and the incredible landscape.
Last stop before heading back was a local church, of which there are several on the Island. Beautiful old structure.
The only drawback that my family had was that the tour wasn't long enough! We could have listened to Yolande all day. But that just makes us more eager to come back and explore Noumea and New Caledonia more!

Dear Daniel,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your experience with us (5 STARS).
We’re absolutely delighted to hear how much you and your family enjoyed the tour, and especially that Yolande made such a lasting impression. She truly is passionate about sharing the rich history and culture of New Caledonia, and your kind words about her knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm will mean a great deal to her.
It’s also wonderful to know that everything—from booking through to the tour itself—felt smooth and easy, and that you enjoyed each stop along the way, including the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, the traditional structures, the WWII sites, and the local church. We aim to create an experience that is both informative and memorable, so it’s rewarding to hear that this came through.
We did smile at your comment about the tour not being long enough—that’s one of the nicest “drawbacks” we could hope for! It’s a great excuse for another visit, and we would be thrilled to welcome you back to explore even more of Nouméa and beyond.
Thank you again for your kind words and for choosing to tour with us. We hope to see you again in the future.
Warm regards,
Lyvai (Red Team)

An engaging shore trip on our port call. Was long enough to be entertaining without being tedious. The guide Yolonda was very talkative and informative. The tour included the bus (new and airconditioned) and entry to the Tjibaou Cultural Centre with commentary by Yolonda so I think that it was good value. The bus trip traversed across the island to the cultural centre and returned in a loop on a different road so we saw different parts of the island.

Hi Damian,
Thank you for your rating and review of the Country Tour, a 2.5 hours excursion that also included entry to and a visit to the Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center.
We are delighted that you were transported on our newest buses, which were delivered at the end of October 2025.
I will pass your comments on to Yolande, your cultural guide. Have a safe trip home, and please feel free to book or recommend us for your next trip to New Caledonia.

We were a bit disappointed…the tour was supposed to include 1.5 hours at the beach at the end, but it didn’t. The cultural center felt rushed and very overly directed (we were told where to look, where to walk, how long to stay, etc). It left no time to explore anything on your own. The quick tour of the chief’s facility was interesting. Overall, not so great though.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Country Tour which included exploring La Conception Church, Tjibaou Cultural Center and Ouen Toro Hill even in the rain. Our tour guide Yolande was exceptional.

A very comprehensive tour conducted by a delightful lady and lady coach driver, who both showed experience and professionalism.

This was an interesting tour and we’re glad we took it. Our guide Vivian was really terrific. We didn’t see the small print that this tour had 50 people and the back door on the bus was broken. This meant that everyone had to go to the front to get on & off and also that because the door didn’t close completely it kept ringing for the entire trip.

Our guide Vivienne was great and we really enjoyed the tour. The reason for only four stars is that the tour did not start until 11:30 so we did not have time to do anything after before reboarding the ship. We had purchased the additional hop on hop off option which was useless in the end because we did not have time before or after to use it.

Why would the tour ompany offer a visit to the Cultural Centre when it is closed on Monday. This is a major attraction and to find out it closed when we arrived was extremely disappointing. Operator should not even have offered this tour - we could have found something else to see and spend our money on.
