For anyone interested in Japanese history, the museum, site, and tour were fantastic. It’s a bit of an effort to get here but well worth it. Our tour guide, Shigeru, was wonderful as well.

The museum is fairly new. It features an orientation film and rich displays. The 360 degree view of the battlefield from the 5th floor is amazing! The museum cafe serves a variety of food. I highly recommend the ice cream parfait! A mostly leisurely but at times strenuous walk takes you through modern day neighborhoods and rice paddies back in time to 400 year old encampments and battles. Visitors live the politics, betrayals, pride and bravery of the samurai who battled on this strategic and highly contested ground. We learned a lot from our guide. He was attentive, knowledgeable and fun to spend an afternoon with.
