    Great value. Learned...

    Tiina_H, Mar 2026
Great value. Learned about the city from a local while tasting and drinking many local items. Found a few gems I would not have experienced otherwise. Debbie was amazing!!

Hey Tiina, thanks a lot for the great review! Kind regards from Ghent

    Nice tour

    Martijn_V, Aug 2025
Nice tour, fun things. Just to bad it was in englisch. Nice guide, that told a bit of general facts.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thanks for the great review! Our Public Tours are in English, that's true. But all of our guides speak Dutch as well, as we only work with true locals :-)

Underwhelming and plan to leave hungry.

Well-enough organised and decent content, but a little underwhelming and the only food tour we've ever done where we were hungry at the end!

    Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you for your feedback. You're right—the Tasting Tour starting at 14:30 is not a traditional Food Tour, and we don’t advertise it as such. Rather than serving full meals, our focus is on offering a carefully curated selection of high-quality local snacks—both savory and sweet— and authentic Ghentian drinks. Along the way, we also share fun facts, historical insights, and hidden gems of the city, all delivered by a passionate local guide. During your tour, you sampled 12 different tastings, including creations from a chocolatier that got awarded by Gault Millau,, a broccoli beignet with tartare sauce, a potato waffle with pickles, a handmade cheese croquette, a local cookie, three traditional candies, a shot of jenever (our local spirit), and a beer at Ghent’s oldest bar. We’re sorry to hear the tour didn’t meet your expectations, but we hope you still enjoyed discovering the flavors and stories of our city. Kind regards, Nick Charlie Tours

    Great food tour through Ghent

Has a great tour of the city while trying different foods. Tom was a great tour guide! Consider taking out the candy stop (already done during the chocolate tour) and add one more food.

Thanks a lot for the review! :-)

    Not a food tour

    Monica_J, Oct 2024
Ghent itself is beautiful and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about its history. But this was not a food tour. It was a history walking tour. Over the course of 3.5 hours, we had 1 prosciutto sample, 1 croquette, 1 marzapan candy, 1 Ghent local candy, 3 candy samples from the oldest candy store, we STOPPED at a chocolate store, and then had 3 chocolate tastings from a different chocolate tour. Unfortunately to me, candy isn't food and I was famished. I deliberately didn't eat beforehand assuming I would eat food during the tour, and was left disappointed. Again, the tour guide was professional and the city is beautiful. So if you're more interested in history over eating, then this is the tour for you.

Hey there! On your tour you tasted: 1) plenty savory snacks like local croquettes at a trendy place named Chapeluur, beignets, mustard, pickles, dried Ganda ham & local cheeses. 2) 3 x different typical drinks from Ghent: beer (Gulden Draak) in the oldest bar in town (13th century), local apple jenever & a shot of Roomer (based on white wine & elderflower). 3) The different chocolates that you tasted where from the Gault Millau rewarded chocolatier Vandenbouhede. The local candy was enjoyed in one of the oldest candy shops in the world (17th century building), runned by the same family since 1904. The ‘snowballs’ were sampled on a unique location as well. If you were looking for a huge quantity of (fast) food, without having to walk & experiencing the beautiful city centre, the history, the fun facts & the local culture, I can understand this was not your Tour, as we prefer quality above quantity. Glad to read that you loved the knowledgable guide, the stories & the city though. Kind regards from Ghent :-)

Thanks for the great review of our Tasting Tour!

Enjoyed Ghent, the stories about Ghent and the delicacies from Ghent!

    Jarne_S, Feb 2026
Enjoyed the tour of Ghent, which was told in an interesting way by Tom (in the hat). With his enthusiasm he took us all the way inside the stories about Ghent’s past. The tasters were also delicious!
