The chocolate tour was a delicious way of seeing the city. Nick, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable of not only chocolate but the city and its history. We even got into a closed candy shop with the guide's key. Highly recommend this tour on one of your first days in the city.

Tom was knowledgeable and made the tour fun as well as informative. The choice of chocolatiers was truly exceptional. The difference from the typical shops was clear after trying the best in Gent.

What a great review! Thanks a lot :-)

Visited numerous chocolate shops including artisanal one of a kind - top rated ones only found in Ghent. They were excellent! Nick was a great tour guide and yd us lots about the history of chocolate. I would suggest a few more minutes discussion about the history of Ghent on general and pointing out all the famous sites we passed just explaining them a bit more. But it was a lovely tour.

Nice tour to learn some history along with chocolate tasting! I know it's challenging to hit on more than a few locations, but, smaller pieces + more variety and backstory (including how they stack up against others locally, regionally and globally) would have enhanced the tour.

Thanks for the great review & feedback. Kind regards from Ghent

Lemmy was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. He brought us to different candy and chocolate stores and explained their background. We enjoyed various tastings although a few were too sweet for us. He also shared a few interesting stories about Ghent.

Very nice tour with some good tastings, and the guide was very knowledgeable
I feel I would’ve liked to have seen some people making chocolate. I would’ve made the tour better for me.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thanks so much for your lovely review! On your tour, we visited five chocolatiers with open ateliers, where everything is handmade on the spot by local families. Unfortunately, we can’t actually enter the ateliers themselves for hygienic reasons — but we love being able to show how authentic their craft is from up close! Kind regards from Ghent

Great time, great places visited. Well worth the cost. Not a lot of time to shop at the individual shops but we ended up going back later.

Debbie was absolutely phenomenal. She brought the charm and history of Ghent to life through her storytelling and warm welcoming nature. The locations were fantastic and the combination of chocolate history and Ghent history really made for a memorable experience. I came here for a work trip and wanted to fill my time and it was an absolute wonderful use of my time. Cheers to Debbie and the Charlie team for putting together a stellar tour.

We had the pleasure of having Nick as our guide and he was incredible. Our group was small with 4 total, 2 solo travelers and a duo of friends. It made for the most wonderful time with so many chocolates to try. Nick also gave us some recommendations for lunch and we went as a group for the loveliest meal to end our day. It was so nice to get stories about Ghent mixed into all of the wonderful tastings and I loved the focus on local single shop producers.

Mandy was such a brilliant guide for the tour. She was engaging and gave lots of interesting facts and helped make it a special experience. She showed us some of the main cultural elements of Ghent and stories of its people in history. That was all amazing but the highlight was obviously the chocolate - we tasted so many different kinds, including some high end, top quality chocolate. Definitely recommend for chocolate fans!

We did Charlie’s Chocolate Tour in Ghent and had a great experience, thanks largely to our guide, Nick. He was friendly, engaging, and clearly knows both his chocolate and his home town. His knowledge added real depth to this small group tour, from the history of Belgian chocolate to insights into Ghent’s lesser-known stories and landmarks.
This wasn’t just about visiting chocolate shops—it was a walk through the city’s backstreets, hidden alleys, and quiet squares you’d never find on your own. At each stop, Nick gave just enough background to keep things interesting without overloading us, and he was happy to answer questions along the way.
The chocolate itself was excellent—artisan, high-quality, and varied. We tried everything from classic pralines and candies to more experimental flavours, with stops at smaller, locally owned chocolatiers that felt like well-kept secrets.
Overall, it was a fun, well-paced experience that felt both local and personal. If you’re in Ghent and want to learn a bit, see places off the usual tourist track, and enjoy great chocolate, this is a great choice.

What an incredible walking tour! Debbie was absolutely fabulous — she didn’t just share historical facts, she brought the city to life with her passion, warmth, and genuine love for the area. Her storytelling made every stop engaging, and her energy was infectious throughout the entire experience.
And let’s talk about the chocolate — delicious, delightful, and perfectly woven into the tour in a way that made it both fun and indulgent. The combination of sweet treats and rich history was just perfect.
Debbie was superb from start to finish. Her attention to detail, her humor, and the way she connected with everyone in the group made this tour truly special. A huge thank you to Debbie for such a memorable day — highly recommended! Definitely request her if possible!!

Valerie did a wonderful job with the explanations and storytelling. It would be great if we could get a list of all the shops we visited to make it easier to go back and shop at each one! (Maybe a QR code or just a list we can take a photo of at the end of the tour)
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thanks for the review & the good ideas! 🫶
