This was without a doubt one of the highlights of our entire Japan trip.
The tour was perfectly planned and offered a wonderful mix of nature, culture, local food, and authentic experiences. From the breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Tanuki to the shrine visit, Fujinomiya yakisoba, sake tasting, and the wagashi and tea experience, every stop felt thoughtfully chosen and added something special to the day.
What truly made this tour exceptional, however, were Taku and Kio. They were incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing their region with us. They adapted the day seamlessly to the weather and conditions, making sure we had the best possible experience throughout. We never felt rushed, and their kindness and hospitality made us feel more like friends than guests.
If you are looking for a memorable and authentic Mt. Fuji experience, we cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Thank you, Taku and Kio, for an unforgettable day!

Simone, thank you so much for your kind and considerate words. When I shared your review with Kio, this made him so so happy and motivated, too. This is the reasons. why we do this tour! The part, "their kindness and hospitality made us feel more like friends than guests.", is exactly what we are aiming for. We love hosting friends at the foot of Mt. Fuji, and we would like to do the same and more for our guests, too. I am genuinely happy that you felt that way. Thank you so so much for finding us and joining the tour with Maike. Taku

Even though the day ended up being overcast and rainy, we caught a glimpse of the impressive mountain and enjoyed every step of the tour - the lake, falls, lunch, the shrine and sake tasting. Taku and Noriko were the perfect guides, balancing local information with history as well as helping meet special needs such as a pharmacy and a specialty coffee shop.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Hi Gunjan, we loved hosting you and your family at the foot of Mt. Fuji. Thank you so much for your kind review. I hope we can take you to the view of Mt. Fuji next time. Thank you again for joining us!

Taku and Noriko are awesome people. They were very knowledgeable about any questions we asked. They were super sweet and easy to talk to. The tour took us to some unique spots that we probably wouldn’t have known about unless we were local to the area.
Response from Host, May 2026
Hi Bryson, thank you very much for joining us. We were just saying you guys were very sweet right after the tour end, which is probably why we could be sweet to you and Maggie. I hope you had a wonderful time in Fuji city and Fujinomiya city. Hope to see you again soon:)

An absolutely unforgettable experience with Taku & Kio! 🇯🇵🗻
This was easily one of the highlights of our Japan trip. From the moment we met, they made us feel welcomed and gave us a genuine local experience that went far beyond the typical tourist stops.
Seeing Mt. Fuji fully visible was incredible, but what truly made the day special was everything around it — the amazing locally sourced ice cream, the beautiful terrace views at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, learning about the history and significance of Fujisan Hongu Sengen Shrine, enjoying authentic Fujinomiya yakisoba, and finishing it all with locally brewed draft beer.
Taku & Kio were knowledgeable, friendly, passionate, and made the entire day feel personal and memorable. You can tell they truly care about showing guests the real side of Japan.
Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Japan — especially if you want something authentic, relaxed, and unforgettable.

Wow, thank you so much for your sweetest and kindest words. It means a lot to me and Kio. Kio hyped up very much after sharing your words;) We absolutely loved having you in our neibourhood. I hope you had a lot of fun in Japan. We'll be waiting for you guys to come back next year! Thank you so so much.

For years a bug in my operating system had me believing one could grasp all of the knowledge from foreign destinations through media. It was part of life. Economics was part of it too. Folks where I’m from rarely leave their back yards, let alone the state, nation, or the continent. I’ll be vulnerable. I was afraid. I was dead wrong.
I burned all the ships when I left my hometown.
I never fit. Never felt at peace. That kid inside me screamed for the childhood he never had. I promised that little boy one day we would. Ed Mylett said it best "I am so grateful for where I am. I am so appreciative of what I have, but I'm so dissatisfied with staying here." My therapist would say the same if asked about me…
Japan cracked open my soul.
I don’t like booking tours when I travel. I love to drop in. Be local as much as I can. Be challenged to solve problems. My pace. My feelings. Fate brought Fuji Soul Tours ( IG: @fujisoultours ) into my feed. Stopping between my first week in Kyoto & second in Shibuya wasn’t planned, but the risk profile fit. I had to learn how to navigate multiple high speed Shinkansen trains to get there. I had to figure it out, alone.
I booked it.
To my surprise it was just me & two local guides. I expected a bunch of “Gajin” WALL-Es with me but it was just us. I learned so much about the country, experienced matcha, beer, and sake tastings, local food truck eats, all from their home town. The owner even taught me how to properly pray at the temples and shrines. God must have played a role because it poured the day before & my weather was flawless. I left a piece of my heart there, and I’ll have to go back to get it. I’ll be forever grateful to these two guys who shared laughs, knowledge, & answered all my “Gajin” questions fee of judgement. They made me feel at home. Complete peace. Talking about entrepreneurship was icing on the cake, and it warmed my heart knowing I was helping a small town.

Oh Chris, thank you so much for joining the tour. The tour with you was so much fun. We loved hosting you! We are very looking forward to seeing you again over here in Fuji. Come and get your piece!

Takumu and Noriko made the entire experience unforgettable from start to finish. Their deep knowledge of the area, combined with their warm personality made the tour truly special.
Seeing Mt Fuji in person was absolutely breathtaking! They knew exactly where to take us to have the best view of Mt Fuji. Furthermore, they were able to adapt to last minute changes to the itinerary which was fantastic as we got to see Shiraito falls which had an unforgettable view of Mt Fuji as well.
More so, for lunch they brought us to a small local restaurant known for the best yakisoba in Fujinomiya. They explained its history and what makes it unique to the region, which made the experience even more meaningful.
In addition to the already amazing experience, they were able to provide a tradition green tea tasting in a traditional tea house. It was exactly what you see in movies.
Overall, they were professional, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about sharing Japanese culture. I recommend extending the tour as well to make the already special experience even more memorable. I couldn’t recommend them more!!!
Thank you again Takumu and Noriko!

We took this tour as family of 3 as we were traveling from Tokyo to Osaka. I booked this tour well in advance of our trip and appreciated the immediate and personalized tour that I was able to design with our guide, Takumu. I was able to adjust the itinerary as we talked through options and was given assistance with booking our bullet train tickets in line with our itinerary. Our goals were to get some nice picturesque shots of Mt Fuji and also get off the beaten path from most of the traditional tourist spots and this tour definitely met those expectations. Definitely well worth it to make this stopover in Fujinomiya and strongly recommend this tour for others traveling to/from Tokyo and Osaka/Kyoto. Thank you Takumu for a lovely trip!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Natalie,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review! It was a real pleasure planning your family's stopover in Fujinomiya together, and I'm so glad that booking early gave us room to shape an itinerary which truly fit what the three of you were hoping for. Helping with your bullet train tickets and finding those quieter, picture worthy spots away from the usual tourist crowds was honestly one of the best parts of my week. If you ever swing back through the Mt. Fuji area, please do say hello again. Wishing you many more wonderful trips ahead!
Warmly,
Takumu

All was efficient and super easy, from booking to pick up. Our two hosts were super pleasant. Couldn’t recommend more - 10/10!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Isabelle,
What a lovely surprise to read your review, thank you so much for the kind words! Hearing that everything from the booking process all the way through to pickup felt smooth and easy genuinely makes our day. My partner and I really enjoyed hosting you, and a 10/10 from you means more than you know. We hope the rest of your travels in Japan continued to be just as enjoyable, and if you ever find yourself near Mt. Fuji again, we'd love to welcome you back.
All the best,
Takumu

I couldn’t recommend Taku more as a tour guide! He took me and my boyfriend on such a lovely tour around Fuji and the town. He gave us options on what we wanted to pick from and he even added more. Not only was he so delightful and fun to talk to, he also made us feel so welcome to his town. If you want an amazing experience full of great food, detailed history, and a genuine fun time. Book with Taku!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Shannon,
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! Spending the day showing you and your boyfriend around my hometown and the Fuji area was honestly such a joy. I'm really glad you enjoyed having the freedom to choose your favorites (and the little extras I sneaked in), and that the food, the history, and just hanging out together all came together so nicely. Welcoming visitors who are open to exploring is what makes this work so meaningful for me. I hope the rest of your Japan trip was just as memorable, and if you ever return, you both have a friend in Fujinomiya!
Cheers,
Takumu

It was such a unique experience! The driver was really nice and knowledgeable. He really taught us about the culture in Japan. I will take this over shopping in Tokyo any day!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Angelo,
Reading your review just made my morning! It means a lot that the cultural side of the day landed with you, because sharing those small everyday parts of Japanese life is something I genuinely care about. Trading a Tokyo shopping day for time out here in the countryside is, in my completely biased opinion, always the right call, so I'm very glad you felt the same way. Wishing you safe travels onward, and please come back for more local stories whenever you can!
Warm regards,
Takumu

Taku is an amazing guide! He took us to all the local spots, picture view points, and made this experience one we will never forget. We are so happy to have found this tour with Taku!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Madison,
These kind words really mean a lot, thank you for sharing them! Taking guests to my favorite local spots and quiet picture viewpoints is one of my absolute favorite parts of this job, so knowing the day became a memory you'll keep makes me incredibly happy. I'm so grateful that you chose to spend your time with me out here in the Fuji area, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience. Wishing you many more amazing adventures, and please do stop by again if life ever brings you back to Japan!
With thanks,
Takumu

Takumu was a brilliant guide from the start! Easy to communicate with when booking & gave a variety of options for the day. Takumu is local to the area so he took us to his favourite spots to enjoy the mountain views. We went to the Mt.Fuji heritage centre, Fugisanhongu sengentaisha which offered amazing views of Mt.Fuji. We then had Takumu’s favourite Yakisoba for lunch which was delicious and then finished our afternoon with a traditional tea experience. We got lucky with clear views of Mt.Fuji all day. We had so much fun and highly recommend Mt.Fuji soul tours!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for such an amazing review, Ruby! I am so happy to have you guys as my guests, I had so much fun spending time with you. So glad the mountain showed up for you too. Hope to see you again and safe travels;)
Annette_M, Feb 2026
We had an amazing experience with Tamuku! Unfortunately, the day we were at Mount Fuji it was raining. Tamuku immediately found an alternative activity which we thoroughly enjoyed – a private tea ceremony. Tamuku took us to a local bakery, to eat yakisoba and pork buns. The food was amazing!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for the kind words, Annette! The weather didn't go as planned, but moments with you guys remind us why we love what we do. We truly hope to welcome you back again someday!
