This is a fabulous tour with a passionate guide who has first hand experience of the history. Highly recommended.

Having just made my first trip to Derry, I felt like I knew so much about Derry once our tour was over. The history of the conflict is interesting as well as VERY EMOTIONAL! I feel for the people of Free Derry and hope that something like that NEVER happens again. Our tour guide shared first hand events of those days, since he himself took part in those awful days. He was knowledgeable, kind and shared what he lived. We then went onto the Free Derry Museum. I highly recommend this tour and checking out the museum afterwards.

The tour covers a very small area, so there is minimal walking required. It starts right next to the museum, making it hard to miss. Both the tour and the information provided were excellent. It’s worth mentioning that the tour guide's brother was killed during the Troubles, and his story is actually presented in the museum. The tour lasted about an hour and a half.

This was an excellent tour from someone who experienced Bloody Sunday first hand. It really helped me understand the context of the Troubles and the ongoing ramifications today. I wouldn't say it is FUN, because it's very serious material. But it's important and something I was thankful to increase my understanding of.
One note: this isn't great for kids. My 17 year old handled it well, but my 12 year old was completely lost. A little bit of context would be helpful, and I don't know that I'd recommend it for anyone younger than 16 or so. They'll just have a harder time following.

Extremely informative and interesting.
An authentic narrative of a truly awful time in Northern Ireland. c
Would highly recommend the 1.5 hours with Michael who is an absolute legend.

This was an authentic experience. Our guide, Noel, was a local man who lived through “the troubles” and spoke from first hand experience. The detail he shared with the group was based on his personal encounters and lived experience.

John is a fantastic guide. He is personable, knowledgable, candid, and will answer all questions, no matter how difficult. He also takes the time without any rush.

I found it to be an informative and touching tour from someone with first hand experience, and deeply personal knowledge of the events of "Bloody Sunday" in January of 1972. I highly recommend, Plus, the people at the Free Derry Museum were friendly and. informative as well. I am glad I found this event.

John’s knowledge of the troubles, Bloody Sunday and big side history is second to none! I was blown away at how well he presented the tour, I learnt a lot about how everyone’s lives were affected in the bogside.
I would highly recommend this tour

Very informative and helpful tour that really grounds you in the Troubles and the personal experiences of those that lived through this.

Great tour with Micky. This was one of the best tours that I’ve done. Micky did an excellent job and was extremely knowledgeable and spoke from his firsthand experience and a deep knowledge of the topic. I also appreciated his laid back manner and occasional humor. Highly recommend this tour and Micky as a guide.

This tour is a must-see, especially if you are visiting for a day or two. We were fortunate to have Noel as our guide and the entire staff at the Museum of Free Derry are wonderful.
Anita_C, Oct 2025
Wonderful, educational, moving experience. Tour given by a gentlemen who lived through Bloody Sunday and saw friends gunned down. We learned so much about that day and the Troubles in general.
Colette_C, Oct 2025
It was both harrowing and eye opening. Noel walked us through the events of Bloody Sunday, and recalled his own experience of the day as a 14 year old boy.
He was passionate but without malice.
We would absolutely recommend this tour.

Can not recommend this tour highly enough. Great tour guide, shared the facts as well as his own experience as a family member of one of the victims. One of the best tours I've ever been on.

One of the mist insightful tours I have experienced. The tour guide had lived experiences which made the tour so much more. His knowledge of the history of the region and bloody Sunday transported us to that time.

Excellent informative tour. Mickey was excellent. Knowledgeable. Shared his personal story. Would highly recommend. Visited the Museum of Free Derry as well.
Jenny_p, Oct 2025
The tour was very well presented by a guide who had personally experienced this tragic time. The memorial and murals were valuable to see, honouring all those innocent people who lost their lives. Very sad to hear the stories but I fully recommend this tour to give you insight and understanding.
Deb_G, Sep 2025
John was an excellent guide. It was very personal to him and he had so much information to share. He’s obviously been doing this a long time and is passionate about it, because he’s fabulous at it.
Clodanne_P, Sep 2025
It was amazing and so informative. Our guide John (Aussie) was so knowledgeable we really had a great time with him.
KevinFarrell, Sep 2025
Interesting your and lots of insight from John, our tour guide. I thought there would be a bit more walking in the area Avs more info on the murals as well. But John was deeply evaded and ready to answer any and ask questions. Wish the tour were just a bit longer. But, nevertheless, highly recommended.
chris_A, Sep 2025
John was fantastic. Having a guide whose brother was killed in Bloody Sunday made the tour intense and very educational
Quinn_M, Sep 2025
Learned some great information on the walk. Noel sharing his stories added so much to our visit to the city. The only criticism I’d have is that it was a bit pricey, and did not fully cover admission to the museum.
Mark_H, Sep 2025
It's got great first hand views. Our guide was great, and spent time afterwards to answer our questions.
Susanna_O, Sep 2025
One of the best walking tours I have ever done. The guide was fabulous and because he was at Bloody Sunday march is was very personnel.
