We knew it would be a long day, but well worth it. Mel was a wonderful guide , and gave us a lot of interesting information on the coach. The stop at Edith Falls for a fabulous swim was great, then of course the gorge was spectacular. We stopped off at a good outback pub for dinner on the way back, so with all the breaks, it was a comfortable trip . Would recommend this trip

Lovely scenery at both Edith Falls and Katherine Gorge. A very long day on the bus, but you have to expect that in the outback.

Long day but well worth it. 6am pick up and home drop off 9pm. Plenty of water supplied by bus and Katherine Gorge tour but bring your own bottle to refill. Buy your own m/tea at Adelaide River, buffet lunch supplied, and buy your own dinner on way home at Adelaide River Inn. Our bus driver/tour guide "TJay" was awesome. Our Katherine Gorge tour guide Jamie was awesome too. Swim at Edith Falls was great and refreshing.

It is a big day but a great day. Katherine Gorge is stunning. The bus driver Kunch & the young local guide on the boat were very knowledgeable and great company for the awesome day out.

Long trip so be ready for that although the coach is comfortable.

The staff on this trip were knowledgeable and you could tell they loved their job. Nothing was too difficult and they went out of their way to make sure you are ok as it gets very hot out there.
Response from Host, May 2025
Hi Amanda,
Thanks so much for your kind words! We're really glad you felt well looked after — the team truly cares and it shows. The heat can definitely be a challenge, so it's great to hear they helped make the day as comfortable as possible.
Hope to see you again sometime!

Did this trip solo as here for work and was really impressed with the whole day. Our AAT guide and driver Mel was such a relaxed and friendly lady, very professional and made the trip easy.
Stopped for a brief time at Edith Falls to cool off and had a lovely lunch at Katherine Gorge.
The Gorge itself was fantastic. Peaceful and colourful. Our boat guide Landon? was super impressive with his knowledge and Dream Time stories.
On the way home stopped at Adelaide River pub for a quick meal (extra cost) A fun atmospheric very Aussie pub.
A big day but worth it.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
We're so glad to hear you had such a great experience, even while traveling solo! It's wonderful that Mel's friendly and professional approach made the trip easy and enjoyable. We're also happy you had a chance to cool off at Edith Falls, enjoy the peaceful beauty of Katherine Gorge, and be impressed by Landon’s knowledge and Dreamtime stories. The stop at the Adelaide River pub sounds like a fun way to cap off the day. We're glad it was all worth it and hope to have you back on another adventure soon!

41deg & 85% humidity. An extremely average lunch, with insufficient quantities to cater for the number of travellers. A bloody long day!
The bus and tour guide were great. The stop at Adelaide River thoroughly enjoyable and informative. The scenery at Katherine Gorge spectacular.
With some tweaking, this would be a great trip. Just a pity that some minor hiccups detracted from the overall enjoyment
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Hi Andrew, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that the lunch and the heat made the day less enjoyable for you. We understand how challenging 41 degrees and high humidity can be, and we apologize that the food didn’t meet expectations or accommodate the group size. We’re glad that you found the bus, tour guide, and the stops at Adelaide River and Katherine Gorge enjoyable, and we’ll certainly work on improving the areas you mentioned. We appreciate your feedback and hope we can provide a more seamless experience next time.

I have mixed feelings about this day and why I rated it 4 stars AAtKing was a great company. The bus was comfortable and had great AC. Their instructions and description was spot on.
The tour was from 6:00am-9:00pm. We spent a short time at a War Cemetery. Was okay. We got an hour at the water hole to swim and loved that. Then 2 hour boat cruise. So a long day for 3 hours of fun. So keep that in mind.
I feel bad saying this but our tour guide talked too much. I felt like silence made her uncomfortable. 2/3 into the day someone went to the front of the bus and asked her to turn down her mic so they could have quiet. After that it was better and got some great music the last hour home. She seemed a little grumpy but was a nice lady.
So a long day. I am happy I saw it but was just an okay day. Nothing the tour group did just a long day for 3 hours which I knew about before I went, so I can not complain.
All in all I am happy I went.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. We completely understand how a long day with limited time for activities can feel a bit exhausting, and we appreciate you being understanding of the schedule. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed the swim and the boat cruise, but we also recognize that the long day can sometimes feel a bit much for just a few hours of fun.
We’re sorry to hear that the tour guide's commentary became overwhelming at times, and we truly appreciate you speaking up about it. We’ll take your feedback seriously and work to ensure future experiences are more balanced and comfortable for everyone. We're glad that the music provided a more relaxed atmosphere on the way home.
Overall, we're happy that you still found value in the trip and that you’re glad you went. We hope your next experience with us is even more enjoyable!

The whole thing was amazing so hard to explain just one thing starting from our tour guide right through to the aboriginal rock art
Jennifer_D, Oct 2024
This trip is a big day but the bus is comfy and our driver Anthony kept us well informed about the areas we were driving through. It was a very hot day and our boat tour was in the afternoon, not the morning as I expected, which meant we visited the Falls in the morning, this was still lovely but I was very hot and sticky after the Gorge visit as it includes a bit of a walk, we did visit in October though so thats to be expected. Lunch was nice, but thought there could have been some bush tucker in the mix. Overall we had an enjoyable day, Anthony got us around nice and safe and the Gorge and Falls are delightful.
Leanne_V, Oct 2024
We had a wonderful day visiting the Adelaide River War Memorial, Edith Falls and the highlight Katherine Gorge. It is a very, very long day with a 6am pick up and an 8:30pm drop off. Libby our driver was brilliant so much knowledge of Darwin and she entertained us throughout the day. She has a great singing voice! Very comfortable coach with heaps of leg room and reclining seats. USB ports were great for charging our phones. Note there is NO included WIFI on day trips only included on longer tours. Edith Falls was beautiful to swim in very relaxing. Bring a floating device if you are not a strong swimmer as it is very deep. Lunch was a fabulous buffet, with great salads, vegetables and lasagna to choose from. You can even try some crocodile sausage rolls. The two hour boat tour down Katherine Gorge was amazing well worth the long drive to get there. Overall a wonderful day and would highly recommend.
Karen_L, Sep 2024
Our tour guide was amazing and very informative and friendly and definitely enjoys her job
The view and cruise was awesome
AnneMarie_J, Aug 2024
Our journey began with an early morning pick-up, and right from the start, it was clear that this tour was well-organized and thoughtfully designed. Stopping at Edith Falls for a refreshing swim. The cool, clear waters of the falls were the perfect antidote to the warm day.
The highlight of the day was the Katherine Gorge cruise. We were treated to breathtaking views of the gorge’s towering cliffs and tranquil surroundings. The guide’s informative commentary enhanced the experience, providing fascinating details about the gorge’s geology and its significance to the traditional owners of the land.
Overall, the Katherine Gorge day trip was a perfect blend of nature, relaxation, and learning. The combination of the gorge cruise, swim at Edith Falls, the war cemetery and a delicious lunch made for an exceptional experience. The well-informed guide and the seamless organization of the tour ensured that every moment was enjoyable and stress-free.

Our driver Michael was extremely informative and very friendly. He also drove very safely. The trip up the gorge was stunning. Great value for the price.
LeeEllen_S, Aug 2024
The whole trip was amazing and well worth the long drive. The staff and guides during the experience were top notch.
Nanthini_K, Jul 2024
The coach driver/guide was excellent. The lunch was great. Well informed your. Catherine Gorge tour was amazing.
Jonalyn_C, Jul 2024
Excellent tour guide and experience that day! Loved everything about it - from the luxurious coach, refillable water to the beautiful destinations and wealth of knowledge. I highly recommend!
STEVEANNE_S, Jun 2024
Katherine Gorge + cruise of two gorges is memorable + beautiful. Edith Falls, particularly for the swimmers, is refreshing + scenic. The war cemetary was poignant + interesting. Buffet lunch excellent. Coffee-tea-food breaks morning + afternoon were a bit ordinary
6am pickup from the hotel + 8.50pm return. Approximately 15 hours not including the taxi to the pick-up point. For a day tour it is an extremely long time in the bus for relatively short time at stops + exhausting. But if you want to see Katherine Gorge + do not have your own transport the tours offer the opportunity to do so.
Danielle_W, Jun 2024
People should know this is a very long day before they book. The coach was very comfortable & quite luxurious, so that helped with the long drive. Shawn, our driver & captain for the day was very informative and spoke about interesting things along the way. Edith Falls was a lovely place for a very quick dip & a drink. The lunch buffet was delicious & plentiful too! Katherine Gorge itself was stunning. The boat ride was very enjoyable & we saw a few freshwater crocs.
This tour was worth doing & we enjoyed it very much.
Please read the description carefully & look at a map to decide for yourself if you can go the distance! Highly recommended.
Barry_P, May 2024
Sean our operator was excellent, beautiful lunch at Katherine Gorge,a lot of distance to cover in 1 day so you had to limit the amount of sites you could stop at.
Greg_P, May 2024
This was a great trip. The coach was very comfortable, and Maurie and Chris were great as guide and driver respectively. Maurie's commentary was mist informative and interesting. The Adelaide River War Cemetery and Edith Falls are worth a visit, but the highlight was the cruise down the Gorge - stunning.
Michelle_P, Apr 2024
Katherine Gorge was amazing. Tour guide was excellent with a vast array of knowledge throughout the whole trip.
Greta_P, Apr 2024
Mark our driver and guide was excellent with the right amount of informative explanation and quiet time so we could catch some sleep on this long drive. Jamie on the Nitmiluk boat was also fantastic in his detailed commentary. Both ensured our safety. Mark’s stops ran smoothly to time and we had adequate time at each including him being flexible in allowing us to climb up to the upper pool when swimming was not allowed at the main pool at Edith falls. The lunch was wonderful and I loved the crocodile roll.
