Bring a big appetite and be prepared to get a little messy. This is part of the fun! Vegetarians are easily catered for.
We had the very best experience that we could have wished for with Dhanuka and his family. We started at the farmer's market and collected our ingredients. Dhanuka gave us lots of information about how to select the best ingredients. We had lots of fun cooking with the family and ended up with a huge feast of 9 different dishes, along with rice, poppadoms and fruit and crepe like dessert. Dhanuka was even kind enough to bring us back, well beyond the service advertised.

ANU and Danuka went to extraordinary lengths to give us a total experience Not only did we visit markets to learn how to choose the fruit and vegetables they wove the magic of the history of Sri Lanka cuisine. I was surprised to learn less was better. That coconut is the life blood of the cuisine

This is a wonderful cooking experience in a local Colombo home. It begins by visiting the outdoor market to select the produce and to sample some of the beautiful local fruits. We then went to Dhanuka’s family home. He and his wife were both welcoming and generous in sharing their knowledge of Sri Lankan food. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed helping to prepare the food and to see the cooking process. The highlight for me was seeing how one coconut could produce so much from sambol to the milk. It was a wonderful morning and a fabulous lunch, an experience I definitely would highly recommend.
