Highlight of our 2 night stay in Chester. My 11 year old loved it, and as we were a small group we were able to ask our knowledgeable and friendly guide lots of questions, all of which he had time for to discuss in depth. My son loves historical facts, and was in his element

Interesting and enjoyable walk around Chester accompanying a Roman Soldier to learn about landmarks and history. Relatively brisk pace, up and down steps to see secret basement Roman ruins. Intriguing and recommended for a healthy walk around the city.

A fascinating your and out tour guide Marcus was excellent. I’ve lived in Chester twice during my life and saw and learnt things that I just wasn’t aware of. Really informative and suitable for both adults and children. Loved it!

Very informative. Both guides, apologies for not remembering your names, were excellent. Lots of intereresting information, regarding the significance of what each guide was wearing, hierarchy within the Roman empire, Roman Chester and general Roman life. Both guides were friendly and combined humour and information to create a very enjoyable tour.

This an amazing insight into Chester as it was 2000 years ago. The guides are knowledgable and enthusiastic to the history of Chester. We were guided by Kieran who clearly enjoyed the experience himself.
The walking is light and the artifacts are impressive, especially in their accessibility.

Fascinating insight into the Roman history of Chester.
The soldier was well versed in the detail of what he was describing.
Some of the detail was perhaps a bit inappropriate for the young age of some of the attendees - eg descriptions of killing of the gladiator were rather graphic.

Informative experience provided by our Roman Centurion. Dressed in authentic costume. He engaged with my 9 year old grandsons which they enjoyed. The tour lasted an hour and a half which was just right. I am a moderately fit 75 year
old and found the pace comfortable.

Sam was very knowledgeable about life in the Roman Empire and conveyed a lot about the differences in life experience from Roman citizens down through ordinary soldiers to slaves. All of this with immense enthusiasm combined with care for one is with mobility issues.

Great tour with "Marcus" around the streets of Chester. Loved exploring the basements of various shops to see Roman ruins (one of which is not open to the public). Our guide was seriously knowledgeable about the topic and really brought everything to life with props and costume - we loved it!!

Excellent guided walk. Marcus was a really interesting guide whose delivery of the facts was suitable for all audiences and he answered all questions that he was asked. Chester is a wonderful city with amazing history. If Marcus (Kieran) was to run a longer tour I for one would happily pay more.
