- This tour includes walking on uneven surfaces and steps inside the caves. The boat ride at Melissani Lake is shared with other visitors and lasts around 10–15 minutes.
- Entrance fees for Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave are included in the tour price.
- Comfortable walking shoes, water, sun protection, and a hat are recommended.
- The order of stops may vary depending on traffic, weather, or cruise ship schedules.
- Pickup from Argostoli Port is available for cruise passengers. Return to port is guaranteed in time for boarding. Pickup from selected hotels and meeting points is available for holidaymakers. Travel time from hotels outside Argostoli is not included in the tour duration.

I had booked this tour months in advance and received an email the day before that it “will not operate” on the day I chose. No reason was given. I was extremely disappointed but was told we would still be going to Melissani Lake and Drogaeti Cave. After paying in full, I received a “partial refund” which was only 10€. Sounded like a great tour but I wouldn’t suggest it.

We would like to clarify the situation: the originally booked tour unfortunately had to be cancelled, and we immediately contacted you to propose an alternative shorter tour to the Drogarati Cave and Melissani Lake. We explained the full itinerary in advance and also informed you that if you preferred not to participate, we would proceed with a full refund.
You agreed to join the alternative tour, and therefore we issued a refund for the difference in price between the two excursions. The tour itself operated exactly as scheduled and as described.
We are sorry to hear that your impression does not reflect the arrangements we made together, but we assure you that everything was handled transparently and according to your choice.

My girlfriend and I did the highlights of kefalonia tour and we were absolutely blown away! This tour really does show you the highlights of the island. Our tour guide Kathryn was the best!! In between every stop she would tell us vast history about the island and its people. When we were waiting for the Melissani lake tour, our guide held our groups place in line so we would not have to stand in the hot sun and could shop. The people at the Avalon travel agency were a pleasure to deal with, they even reached out the day before the excursion to confirm and gave additional details of where to meet and who to look for. If there’s any island that we will be revisiting.. it will 100% be Kefalonia.

Aimed at cruise passengers. No depth to commentary. Caves excellent although not impressed with over one hour wait in torrential rain to get into the cave/lake. Running late so 50 minute lunch stop reduced to 40 minutes. - insufficient time (not everyone was heading back to food on the ship). No time to look around. Organiser threatened to leave without two people as they were 10 minutes late back. Not impressed.

Lovely tour around parts of Kefalonia with our very informative guide. Enjoyed our boat ride on the lake in melissani cave, even serenaded by our rower. The drogarati cave was bigger than I expected, and was lovely and cool on such a hot day. The view of myrtos beach is stunning!

The Tour Guide Maria was lovely and so accommodating, she dropped us off closer to our accommodation as we were not part of the cruise ship and would have a big walk in the hot sun! She knew all the best places to go and even recommended a beach for us to swim at quickly. Highly recommend as an option to see the best of Kefalonia!

Kathryn was a perfect tour guide. She is British but has been living here for many years. She knows her ancient and local history well. She shares many interesting stories along the way. As it turned out, our tour was on Greek Orthodox Easter Sunday morning, so she re-routed our tour to have the least impact on the sights and experiences, before everything would be shut down for spit-roasted lamb family celebration dinners. We felt honored to be accommodated.
The stopping points were excellent choices-beautiful photos from stunning locations and memorable experiences. A must do excursion!

The excursions went very smoothly. The guide kept us well informed at all times and was very well spoken. Kefalonia is beautiful, but there really isn’t much to see. We were lucky to be there at the end of the season, the lines weren’t crazy.

Our experience with Avalon Travel on the "Highlights of Kefalonia" tour was exceptional. The ride along the mountains was beautiful. The ocean water was a gorgeous blue. However, we had a 2 hour wait in the hot sun to get in to see Melissani Lake. The lake water was beautiful, but not worth a 2 hour wait in the sun. They did have a store you could go into and shop while you waited. It had refreshments as well so that was nice. If the wait was maybe 30 min, I would definitely recommend it. This was in the summer, peak tourist season, too. Drogarati Cave was nice and no wait!

Our guide Patricia was excellent. She made adjustments to some of our stops along the way due to a very long wait to get on the boat ride. The boat ride was worth the price all by itself even though it lasted 10 minutes.

Such a fun day in kefalonia! We went to two different caves, road on a boat ride in one of the caves, wine tasting, a monastery, and saw several panoramic views! Definitely will recommend to all family and friends to do if they go to Kefalonia!

The tour was great. We were able to see a lot in a short amount of time. We loved our tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the island. Her passion for the island and the sea turtles and hearing about her daughter's experience as a marine biologist on the island was icing on the cake. My son who was 7 enjoyed the tour and the Details she shared. It was perfect to see so many places on the island in such a short amount of time.

The caves were our favorite, and were informed by guide Catherine of the many steps needed before we conquered the stalagmites. The sights along the way were beautiful, particularly the gorgeous beach. Thank you.

We enjoyed visiting the caves, and especially the rowboat tour of the lake in the cave. The water was such a clear beautiful blue. We also loved the visit to the winery and the Monastery.

The winery and both caves were wonderful also the coastline. The only thing that I would mention is that our tour guide was ok but did not give us warning on what to expect ahead very well. For instance, the first cave had 166 steep steps to see the cave and she did not tell us.

Our first stop was actually to a church- not on the itinerary- which to be honest, could've been missed. We then headed to the Caves which was interesting and the steps were a slight killer so heads up. There was no scheduled lunch stop- so pack some lunch! Then onto the lake- which was honestly the highlight of the day!
We did feel a little rushed and disappointed we had to scoff our kiosk lunch down at the caves (which was terrible) before getting back onto the bus.
It was a good group tour for the day- not great..

Great trip, only downside is that you dont have a lot of time at every stop. But enough to explore Kefalonia in a day!
