      Not my favorite

      CJ_F, Apr 2026
I think they did they best they could with what they had, but there is just not that much to see on a short cruise excursion in Burnie. We went to the garden to see a platypus, but none to be seen. The grounds were nice, but we were there in the fall season for them, so not very pretty overall.

      Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thanks so much for your honest feedback—we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. You’re absolutely right that Burnie is a smaller port, and on a shorter shore excursion we aim to showcase the very best of what the region offers within the time available. The gardens are a peaceful and natural setting, and while platypus are sometimes spotted, they are wild animals so sightings can never be guaranteed. Seasonality can also make a difference to how the gardens present, but we still love including this stop for its natural beauty and chance to experience Tasmania’s unique wildlife environment. At eGuide, we’re always working to refine our tours and set clear expectations so guests can get the most from their time ashore. We’re really glad you felt our team did their best, and we hope to welcome you back to Tasmania for a longer visit next time—there’s so much more to explore.

There was not much to see on this tour for what we paid. The guide/driver was hard to hear especially in back of bus.

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

This is a very good value three-hour tour for $70 Australia dollars including entry to the Gardens. There was separate guide and sorry you could not hear, i am sure if you had asked the guide he would have increased the volume.

      SKIP this Excursion!

      Rhonda_B, Mar 2026
It was very unorganized and difficult to find where to meet the bus in town. Our guide was older and very hard to hear and understand. The stops we went to on this excursion were okay but nothing amazing. Would recommend doing the "Wings" excursion instead.

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

Not sure why difficult as we meet the shuttle bus as you arrive from the cruise ship. Not sure why you did not book Wings if you thought that was a better choice. Guests who do not Wings enjoy the three Burnie Attractions Bus. so unfair to say SKIP this excursion.

We loved this tour! We enjoyed getting out and wondering around freely. Penguin is a great little town. Highly recommend.

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for the lovely review. We’re really glad you enjoyed the tour and the chance to get out and wander around at your own pace. Penguin is such a charming little coastal town and a favourite stop on our North West Tasmania tours from Burnie. For cruise ship guests looking for a relaxed and reliable Burnie shore excursion, we love showcasing places like Penguin along with the beautiful countryside of Tasmania’s North West. Thanks again for travelling with eGuide Tasmania — we’re delighted you had such a great day with us.

      Burnie bus tour

      Martha945, Feb 2026
It was a nice trip, but it was hard to hear at the back of the bus . It would be stunning if you were there in October November when everything was blooming. I would’ve liked to have had time in the little town of Penguin.

      Response from Host, Feb 2026

I’m glad you enjoyed the trip overall, and you’re absolutely right — October and November are stunning around here when everything is in bloom. It’s a beautiful time to visit. Thank you as well for the comments about the audio at the back of the bus and the time in Penguin. That’s helpful feedback, and we’ll certainly take it on board as we continue refining the experience. We hope you enjoyed your time in Burnie and Tasmania, and perhaps we’ll have the chance to welcome you back in a future season.

      Inefficient check in

      Esta_R, Feb 2026
A bit confusing at check in for the excursion, apparently some participants went on the incorrect bus, so.we unable to go on our chosen tour, was disappointed, but another tour was substituted, it worked out fine

      Response from Host, Feb 2026

Glad it worked out fine and sorry some guests took your spots .. but we immediately organised another bus

Bit rushed, and PA didn’t work so we missed most of the commentary. But volunteer helpers were great.

      Response from Host, Dec 2025

Sorry that you missed the commentary .. the PA system was working fine so not sure what happened

Great tour. Terrible guide. Great driver

      Cesar_D, Dec 2025
This could have been a great tour. The newly hired guide was totally disorganized, uninformed, late back at every stop, didn’t even wear a watch. The bus driver did most of her work. Great sites visited. Bad hire for the company. .

      Response from Host, Dec 2025

Many thanks indeed for taking the time to leave this review — it’s genuinely helpful, and we appreciate your candour. You’re quite right to raise these points. While the guide was new to working with us (though not new to guiding), the experience you describe is not the standard we expect or accept. We’ve already taken this feedback on board and are addressing it immediately. I’m pleased to hear you still enjoyed the sites themselves, but I’m sorry the delivery didn’t match the quality of the places you visited. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention — feedback like this helps us improve and maintain the high standards we aim for.

      Great day in Burnie

      Cindy_S, Feb 2025
Had a lovely day and really enjoyed the tour - everything went well and the experience was great. I got to see a duck billed platypus.

      Response from Host, Feb 2025

Hi Cindy, we are so pleased you enjoyed the time and that you got to see a Platypus, can be quite a rare sighting. Thank you for your support, we do appreciate it

Depends what time of year it is

      Jeff_S, Feb 2024
Really depends on what time of the year you go. The guides and drivers were all great, really put in the effort. We went to the city overlook for pictures which was ok. We went to the waterfalls which were nice, but in February probably lacks the water velocity make them special. The gardens could be spectacular if the flowers are in bloom when you go, but that wasn’t our luck. We skipped last museum stop. Good crew but very time dependent.

      Response from Host, Feb 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We're thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience with our guides and drivers. We understand that the timing of visits can greatly impact the overall experience, especially when it comes to natural attractions like waterfalls and gardens. We appreciate your understanding regarding the fluctuating conditions of these sites, such as water velocity and blooming seasons. Your insights help us continually improve and provide the best possible experience for our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, perhaps during a different season, to showcase the beauty of our destinations at their peak.

      Great site seeing trip

      Tammy_F, Feb 2024
Great trip. They even worked well with the cruise ship's arrival and departure. Was able to view a couple of platypuses at the Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens. Still had time afterwards to explore downtown. Had great lunch at The Communion. Tour guides were very informative.

      Response from Host, Feb 2024

      Not much of a Tour

      Aaron_B, Jan 2024
It was great to see the country side but the waterfall was just a small waterfall and the Garden was pretty but the flowers were not blooming at this time. We wished that the season for the blooms would have been noted in the comments. Not much of a hop on and hop off with only 2 stops. (and a brief stop to put other up at the brewery) Did enjoy the enthusiasm of the tour lady on the trip back to our ship

      Response from Host, Feb 2024

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the countryside views during your tour. We apologize for any disappointment regarding the size of the waterfall and the lack of blooming flowers at the garden during your visit. Your suggestion to note the blooming seasons in the comments is valuable, and we'll certainly take it into consideration for future tours. We understand your expectation for more hop-on and hop-off stops, and we'll review our tour itinerary to see if there are opportunities to provide more options for exploration in the future. We're delighted that you enjoyed the enthusiasm of our tour guide on the trip back to your ship. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our services. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more fulfilling experience in the future.
