Cruise ship guests will be picked up just outside the Port of Bar, at the main meeting point after the shuttle drop-off area. Your guide will be waiting with a sign “Rumija 4x4 Experience”, making the meeting point easy to find. Detailed instructions will be provided after booking. The tour is carefully timed to match your cruise schedule, ensuring a smooth experience and return to the ship well before departure.

Our excursion to Rumija was an unforgettable experience! The views from the mountain were absolutely breathtaking, offering a perfect mix of nature, history, and tranquility. This was an amazing excursion, breathtaking views that I will never forget. Amazing and super friendly group, willing to go and beyond to make sure you are having a great moment. Our family had a wonderful experience on this tour. Our driver took very good care of us and was very engaging. The whole crew was wonderful to interact with and the food was AMAZING. It shows they take very much pride in their homeland and happy to share with others. Highly recommend this tour!

Fun trip in Driver‘s personal car. He told us a lot about the country while we were driving and pointed out. Interesting things about his country on the way. The food was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice to get out of the city and traverse the Rumija mountain roads up to a dining site at the top of the mountain. Drago puts on a feast of veal and vegetables with family made wine. The trek is relaxing with a few stops at Tudemili Obelisk and the oldest olive tree in Montenegro. We stopped at a couple of view points but would’ve been nice to have stopped in Old Town or another point of interest. Still a very worthwhile adventure out of the city.

saw beautiful views and countryside. A comfortable trip in an SUV. We had lunch at a wonderful cottage The meal was delicious! Meat cooked for three hours soo tender! Would definitely advise people to book this tour. The only thing I would say is add the old Town to the tour!

If you’re debating between a crowded, overpriced cruise-sponsored excursion and this local experience, trust me—do this tour instead. For less money, you’ll get an authentic adventure you simply can’t replicate with 50 people on a bus.
The tour is run by Drago and his lifelong friends, proud locals who share their history, food, and traditions with you. After meeting right outside the port (super easy to find), you’ll hop into small SUVs (think Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage, VW Taos). Each holds 4 passengers plus your driver/guide, who will share stories, history, and answer questions throughout the journey.
You’ll visit the 2,000+ year old Olive Tree, the Monument to the Battle of Tudjemil, and make several scenic stops along winding backroads that only locals know. The drives are safe and steady, but if you’re sensitive to motion sickness, plan accordingly. Once you leave the port and olive tree area, there are no bathroom stops for about an hour until you reach Drago’s home, so keep that in mind.
My fiancée also agrees this was a fantastic and truly authentic experience. She is prone to motion sickness and recommends starting the day with a light breakfast and some Dramamine. She only began to feel a little queasy upon arriving for lunch and again slightly when descending back to the port—but it was absolutely worth every euro and every bit of discomfort to experience something this personal and unique. It was also very clear that our driver genuinely cared about her well-being during the drive, which we deeply appreciated.
The highlight is lunch at Drago’s mountain home. His family prepares an unforgettable feast—fresh cheese, bread, olives, vegetables, slow-cooked meats, homemade olive oil, pomegranate juice, wine, and dessert. The hospitality is unmatched, and everything is authentic, local, and delicious. You can also purchase his olive oil and other products (highly recommend).
The tour lasts 3–5 hours and ends back at the port. Please support your driver and Drago generously: tipping your driver in euros is expected and deserved, as they spend hours guiding, driving, and sharing their culture. I would suggest no less than 15–20 € per person, and if you can, 20–30 € per person is even better and very fair for the quality of this tour. Also support Drago by purchasing some of his homemade products—both gestures make a real difference to these families and help keep this authentic experience going.
It was abundantly clear to us that Drago and his team pour an incredible amount of care and pride into this excursion, and they deserve fair compensation for the experience they provide.
I’ve traveled the world and have high standards, and this was one of the best tours I’ve taken anywhere. If you’re stopping in Bar, this is a must-do experience.

Enjoyable trip with a lovely lunch. Host was friendly and made us feel very welcome. Communication before the tour was excellent and easy for cruise ship passengers to find the meeting point. Stopped at some lovely viewpoints and covered the main sights in Bar - although only saw Stari Bar from a distance. Recommended!

The best tour in Bar. My brother and I loved the views of the landscapes. Drago prepared a very delicious traditional meal. He was very welcoming. We had a good driver who knew the roads really well.

Our family of six had an amazing day on our excursion. Theodore and all the drivers were very knowledgeable and provided us with both a historical and personal perspective of Bar. Our lunch in the mountains at Drago’s home was a culinary experience that you don’t want to miss. We told him a head of time that our daughter is a vegetarian and he made a delicious dish for her as well. Your guides bring you to sites of Montenegro that are absolutely breathtaking. We highly recommend this tour!!! We look forward to visiting Montenegro again!

The tour was easy to find from our cruise. The tour guides were all informative. We got to see the beautiful mountains from different elevations. The meal at Drago’s house was so good! He was welcoming and shared about facts about Bar. We didn’t want to spend 4 hours on a bus going to and from Kotor and this worked for us. We went with our 14 and 11 year old and they were entertained too. The cars accommodated 4 plus the driver and they are mini SUV’s.

We had a brilliant day out with Maik who took us inland to a village renown for spit roasted lamb, amazing meal with a perfect view. Cannot recommend Maik more highly, he looked after us and showed the best of inland Crete .

This was the most beautiful tour I’ve been on since boarding the Sun Princess. We had such a nice day traveling by jeep up, down and all around winding roads, many unpaved, and the scenery was spectacular, picture postcard perfect actually. We saw the war memorial which was very high up on one of the mountain roads and of course took pictures of the countryside below with the sea in the distance, we were driven up to a point some 1000 meters elevation and had lunch in this lovely place that was absolutely mouth watering, the owner of the tour group has a lovely restaurant there and it was a welcome opportunity to get out and stretch our legs. This was such a lovely peaceful experience, filled with unbelievable views and delicious food and I’m so happy we decided to take the tour!

Absolutely breathtaking tour. The jeep driver/tour guide was remarkable. The biggest highlight was eating lunch at the top of the mountain in the private residence of the owner of the tour company. We have never had better food & drinks provided on any excursion that we've ever been on. This is a "must book" excursion!!

I was very impressed with Drago and Theodore as well as all the other tour drivers. The pre tour directions and communications we perfect. We had a rare opportunity to see a country through the lenses of this tour group of locals. We journeyed caravan style up the mountain stopping at key points. The views and history were amazing. We got to the top where Drago greeted us an most sincerely wanted to know us. He welcomed us to a communal table where we enjoyed a meal prepared with love. All locally sourced including the alcohol and non alcohol drinks. They keep us on schedule and the meeting and drop off point were convenient for cruise ship passengers. Do not sleep on this opportunity to tour with this group.

Wow. What a beautiful drive!! The ride up the mountain has incredible views and beautiful green countryside with tons of flowers. The lunch was amazing also. We had veal cook in a large oven with potatoes, carrots and peppers. Great wine and fruit drinks.

Was an excellent tour. Beautiful scenery. Some winding roads but worth it and driver took his time. Wonderful and yummy authentic meal roasted in a wood outdoor oven and served with wine, juice or local spirits. Well organized and saw beautiful countryside of Montenegro. Got back in plenty of time to board ship. You won’t regret taking this tour!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day out on the Rumija Jeep Experience. We drove up into the mountains with various stops to look at view points and ancient olive trees, our guide Theodore was a great driver on the twisting mountain roads, followed by an amazing traditional lunch eaten outside at the owners cottage and a chance to try local drinks. We would so recommend this tour and even though we had just one day in Montenegro we feel like we got to see some beautiful parts of the country.

Our jeep experience took us up over the top of Mt. Rumija and to the owner's cabin for an authentic, and delicious, slow cooked meal. The views looking down on Bar were incredible. You really got to see how beautiful Montenegro really is. Would highly recommend this tour.
