Great day out!
Plenty of wineries within easy riding distance… plus gin, whisky & beer tasting options for the non wine drinkers.
Our teenage children also enjoyed the day… particularly finishing at Forrest for a game of volleyball.

A very pleasant excursion. We felt very well taken care of by Lorelle & Greg. Friendly, nice, and attentive, making sure we had a great day. Good bikes and equipment overall. Unfortunately, many of the cellar doors were closed, so there were very few options, but this was not Lorelle & Greg's fault.
Despite this, we are very satisfied. The highlight of the day was the Gibson winery, with very good wines and a highly professional wine tasting.

Touring around Marlborough’s vineyards by bike is the perfect way to spend a day. Most of the time you can bike on a bike trail, and most roads had wide shoulders. No elevation gain, so easy riding. There were a large number of wineries in the area, and we discovered a couple of new favorites. Some of the wineries require or highly suggest reservations, so be sure to review the options in advance! The team at the bike rental company had a nice map, lots of bikes to choose from, good helmets, and an efficient check in process. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our day on the bikes. Initially I thought 6hrs was a little too long, but that wasn't the case at all. Once we took the bikes back at 4pm, we did another winery on foot.

Just the most amazing way to see the local wine cellar doors. Lorelle and Greg are fantastic hosts and they really know how to put you at ease even if you haven’t ridden a bike for a while. Don’t think about it, just do it. We were picked up from our Airbnb and returned later in the day after having a lot of laughs and the wine panniers on the bikes proved very useful as we stocked up on all the wines we liked. Great advice from Greg - start farthest away from base and work your way back as the day goes on.
It’s very easy and safe riding and you can take as long or as short a time at each cellar for as you want.

What a great way to visit some wineries, and biking between them is a good way to slow things down a bit and enjoy the beautiful scenery and a leisurely pace.
We started with the farthest Winery, Allan Scott, and really enjoyed that place. We then stopped at the Moa Craft Brewery for lunch and some a beer/wine tasting. It was a nice setting but the food truck food was just okay. After that we called the Hans Herzog to see if they had room for us, and then we rode the 15 minutes or so to get there. The wines we were looking for were not on the standard tasting there and they were charging $10 per tasing for those wines so that was a bit disappointing (The Bordeaux and the Montepulciano). We didn't keep time well enough ended up missing the 3 PM (and final tasting) offered at Bladen Winery (which had been highly recommended to us), so we finished at to the bike pick up/drop off location, so we ended up at Forest Wines instead.
It is very worth while to take the longer way to Allan Scott winery, staying on the bike trail rather than riding on Rapaura Road. It doesn't add a lot of extra time and the path is beautiful.

Hiya Heidi - it was lovely seeing you both last week and we are really pleased you enjoyed cruising on our bikes using the bike paths and quiet roads. We are very fortunate here in Marlborough to have an incredibly diverse range of cellar doors, from large commercial ones like Allan Scott who grow grapes on 100's of acres of land, to some of our smallest boutique ones like Hans Herzog who grow an impressive 28 different varietals of grapes on only 28 acres of land, and then lots of other cellar doors to choose from in-between. :-). As many say, we are spoiled for choice here 😊
Hope you find a special spot whilst on your holiday to sit and enjoy that lovely bottle of Pinot Gris you bought from Allan Scott :-)

Amazing self guided bike tour with Jo and Steve. They take such pride in their business. They help each guest to get the experience they want at the vineyards. They even offered to make reservations for tastings if required and had a PowerPoint to inform you of what each vineyard offered. The bikes were in great condition. Steve even brought each of us rain ponchos when we were out and checked on us in the rain to make sure we were good. I thought this small business went above and beyond. I highly recommend them!

Wonderful day exploring the wineries by bike. We were picked up at our hotel and and had a quick drive to the starting point. From there we were fitted with a bike and helmet. We then watched a short video about the wineries and given a map with instructions. It was nice to go at our own pace as well as pick the places we wanted to stop. We had a nice lunch at Hunters winery. The only thing I would caution you about is the pick up time. Viator does not tell you to be ready 30 min ahead of time for your pick up. Thank goodness we were in our hotel room and they called for us.
