Such a great tour and what a view from the top! So much history to learn about and we marveled how they were able to even build through the mountain. Our tour guide was great!

Eagles Nest

Ronald_W, Oct 2025
Meeting point and pay to park was confusing. More detail needed. Amy was great guide. I learned many new things.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for your 5 star review, I'm glad you enjoyed our Historical Tour of the Eagle's Nest. Whilst we are very open to feedback and suggestions for improvements, we are not sure how we could provide more detail for the meeting location as we already provide an exact address, a detailed description of what the meeting point looks like, as well as a photograph of the exact meeting location. Of course the payment machines for the public parking lot are not managed by our company so unfortunately we have no control over them. Discover Eagle's Nest

Check the weather before going

Heather_R, Oct 2025
Enjoyable, but our time at the Eagles Nest was marred by a whiteout due to heavy cloud cover. Our tour guide was wonderful and provided a lot of information. The Golden Elevator is large and moved fast. I suggest eating in the dining room cafe. Food is good and the room is historic. There is a limited amount of things to see inside the Eagles Nest. Only three areas and this does not include the outside. Would I pay to see the Eagles Nest again? Yes, but only on a clear sunny day. Check the weather report.

Thank you for your 4 star review, we're glad you enjoyed your WWII Historical Tour of the Eagle's Nest with us. It's a shame the weather didn't cooperate, we know all too well how unpredictable the clouds can be up at the peak of a mountain! We certainly wish we could control the weather to make it perfect every day! Discover Eagle's Nest

Very Good Tour

Eric_R, Oct 2025
We enjoyed this tour. Sharon was a very good guide, she was knowledgeable and shared large period photos which helped us visualize the area from WWII to current. We had plenty of free time at the Eagle's Nest and Sharon made to herself available to help change bus departure times as needed. After returning to the parking area, the included self-guided tour of the Dokumentation Center and bunker experience were very impactful. Definitely recommend.

Our guide was Amy and she was informative but hard to hear and was late arriving while we all stood in the rain. We unfortunately had very cold rainy weather which cannot be avoided. We were still glad we went….especially to the underground bunker. Don’t miss it!

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for leaving a four star review for our WWII Historical Tour of the Eagle's Nest. I'm pleased to hear you're glad you took the tour despite the rainy weather. However as your guide that day I feel I need to address the other points you have raised, to clarify the situation. I'm disappointed to see some of these comments given that I went out of my way during the tour to achieve the opposite. Firstly, I wasn't late arriving. I may have arrived after you, but that's only if you arrived before the check in time. Secondly I was the only person who had to stand in the rain. I specifically directed all of the guests (you included) to an area with a roof so that everone could wait for the tour to begin in a dry environment. I then stood in the rain by myself to wait until all guests had checked in (as the check in point is not covered by a roof). This tour takes place in outdoor spaces as well as indoor spaces so the weather is something we just have to work with, but wherever possible we will always do what we can to keep guests out of the worst of it. Thirdly, I apologise if you struggled to hear me but I checked several times that all guests could hear me clearly and encouraged everyone to let me know at any point during the tour if they couldn't hear me clearly. I was more than happy to speak more loudly if anyone was struggling and also encouraged any guests that might be hard of hearing to stand closer to me, rather than at the back of the group. I always strive to give the best tour experience and will always listen to feedback during the tour and adjust anything I can accordingly. Discover Eagle's Nest

Worth the ticket!

Lisa_J, Sep 2025
Our guide was instrumental in seeing this venue efficiently and she was so very knowledgeable. I debated on whether we should visit this because I was worried about it being hitlers place. But we learned history and the important stories that should never be forgotten. Hitlers actual house and the military buildings were disposed of. The eagles nest was built by “contract” workers under harsh conditions. I’m sure They didn’t have a choice to refuse the contract. Out of respect for those who had to work under these harsh conditions, and even lost their lives doing so, it was petitioned to remain standing. There is a restaurant and the proceeds after paying expenses goes to charities. I would highly recommend this tour over just showing up and walking through yourself. Our guide navigated the crowd and gave us an amazing tour. Definitely allow for time to visit the documentation building (included in your ticket). You also get an audio tour as part of the ticket. We used the public transport bus to get there. Very easy system and the hotel we picked has public transportation included in our stay. Bonus! We rode the bus town 3 stops then walked a mile to the salt mine tour on our own. It was reasonably close and easy for those who are used to walking.

MICHAEL_M, Sep 2025
Total confusion as to where to meet guide. No clear instructions received and office closed at 09.45

Response from Host, Sep 2025

We're sorry you had trouble finding the meeting point for the tour - we didn't have any contact from you but if you'd called, texted, Whatsapped, or emailed us we would have been more than happy to help you with directions. That being said there are very clear instructions before you book the tour, and then upon booking you were sent an email re-confirming the meeting location. The email contains a clear written description of the meeting point, the exact address of the meeting point, and even a photograph of the precise meeting point. We don't know which office you are referring to but it definitely wasn't anything to do with us. We are certain of this because our company (Discover Eagle's Nest) does not have an office at all, so we can only assume you went to someone else's office...

Voucher not accepted

Crystal_E, Aug 2025
The ticket office would not accept our voucher. Had to purchase tickets again. Unclear directions on where to go to get tickets. Internet not working to get to Viator site ti ask what’s going on. Trying to get a refund now. Rude person at counter would not tell us what we needed to do was terrible weather with pouring down rain.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

This is not an accurate or fair review. The ticket office you are referring to is a completely different company to our company. You booked an historical tour with our company (Discover Eagle's Nest) and took the voucher for the tour to a different company (the Eagle's Nest bus ticket office), at a different location and expected them to accept the voucher for a different product (bus tickets). In the meantime, the tour guide was waiting for you (in the pouring rain) at the correct location, along with all of the other tour participants who had arrived at the correct location at the correct time, as per the clear instructions given to them (and you) at the time of booking. Also, our phone number is clearly written on the voucher, you could have called to ask us if you were unclear about anything (without needing the internet). Additionally, we unfortunately have no control over the weather (although the tour guide certainly wished she did when she was standing in the pouring rain waiting for you).

Tour bust

Kevin_M, Jul 2025
Never could find the tour at designated meeting location. Ended up just walking around the site individually. Guess which photo was highlight of the morning!

Response from Host, Jul 2025

We don't feel that a negative one star review of our historical tour is fair based on the fact you didn't experience it because you didn't show up for the tour at the time and place you should have. All of the other tour participants found the meeting location, exactly as it was described to them (and you). You also made no effort whatsoever to contact us via phone, SMS, Whatsapp, or email to enquire about the meeting location if, as you say, you couldn't find it. To the detriment of the other tour participants the tour guide was waiting for you to arrive. You have also failed to mention that you received free tickets to the Eagle's Nest that you were not entitled to (when you eventually arrived an hour after you should have arrived for the tour), despite not showing up to join the actual tour that you booked. However, it would seem that you did not appreciate this as you have now instructed your bank to dispute the charge for the tour as fraudulent in an effort to get the money back for the tour that you didn't show up for. Very disappointing.

Fun experience

You will get lots of new information. Wear something warm even in the summer. Beautiful views if the weather is clear. We enjoyed lunch at the restaurant.
