We had a great time on the Tasman taster. 30 mins or so. Mark our pilot and guide was a legend. Everything felt super easy going, stress free and friendly. Definitely worth doing this cheaper option (we had great weather though).

I was put in the one seat in the helicopter that meant taking photos was limited. This was not helped because the pilot did not interact with us hardly at all. He was very safety conscious & obviously a skilled pilot but his narration was very disappointing.
I found him to be disinterested in his passengers & the sights to lookout for were gone (not helped by where I personally was seated) before I could find a gap through a window to capture them. The ground staff knew I was elderly & had a physical disability but still squeezed me in the back (right behind the tall pilot) with two adult men & a child. I will not use Viator or this helicopter company again!!!

Regarding the seating arrangement, we do understand the importance of comfort, particularly for passengers with specific needs. However, as mentioned on the day seating in the helicopter is determined by weight and balance (W&B) regulations to ensure everyone’s safety during the flight.
We always do our best to accommodate requests, but in this instance, it was not possible to seat you in the front due to these safety requirements.
We’re sorry to hear that you felt the pilot’s narration was not engaging. Our pilots are trained to focus on both safety and delivering an enjoyable experience, and we’ll ensure this feedback is passed along for future improvement.
It’s important to note that our ground crew did their utmost to accommodate you, including upgrading your flight from the Tasman Taster to the Glacier Highlights to enhance your experience. We also made adjustments during the landing to ensure you could stay onboard, as per your request..

Unfortunately we were disappointed with our helicopter flight. We thought that Alpine meant the landing would be on snow but it wasn’t. Not worth the $$ spent.

The tour was cancelled at the last minute for two times due to the weather condition. I droves two round trips about 200 km at each attempt. Quite frustrating.

It was the first time in a helicopter for both me and my wife. That made it exciting. But the ride itself was not exciting. The advertising promised an alpine landing, which we interpreted as landing in snow. But the landing was on a barren rock surface.

We are glad the helicopter flight was exciting for you and if you are looking for year round snow landings then we would advise booking our Ultimate Alpine Combo which gets you onto the Tasman Glacier and has snow all year around.
The landing site itself for the Tasman Taster is an alpine/mountain landing at either Leibig Dome or Brass Peak, both offering amazing views of Mt Cook and the Southern Alps as pictured. The snow experienced on the landing site cannot be guaranteed all year round due to seasonality in the summer months.

This trip was brilliant!! Breathtaking scenes all around. We got to stand on top of a mountain in fresh powdery snow! Our pilot, Mark, was friendly and informative. I wasn’t nervous but I feel if anyone should be nervous of doing a heli flight then he definitely would put you at ease. My daughter and I had an absolute blast!

Had the great pleasure of a Heli Flight up to Mt Cook and was extremely happy we did. The pilot was wonderful, explaining the key features and history as we flew over. He piloted us into the snow line where we got out and had about 15mins playing. Such a wonderful experience.

Wonderful ride with the friendly pilot. Each of us got either a turn up front or a window seat. The view on top was spectacular (albeit short) and we had a chance to take a photo against the helicopter. The ground staff were super friendly as well despite the fact that we were late for check in.
