What To Expect
After a pickup at your Reykjavik hotel, watch the signs of civilization recede into the lunar-like landscape on the short drive to base camp. Meet your guide and prepare for the adventure with a protective helmet, ski mask, gloves, and warm overalls.
If you choose a 2-seater ATV, decide who will drive. Solo rides are also possible. No experience is necessary, as all drivers get an orientation to the bike’s controls and take a practice spin around a safe area to get comfortable.
Once ready, set off with your guide in a convoy, first along paved roads that wind through the open grasslands surrounding the city outskirts. Turn onto gravel tracks and head to the shores of Lake Hafravatn, where you can admire the glassy surface framed by snow-capped peaks in the distance.
Feel the true power of your ATV's off-road capabilities as you climb the rocky slopes of Reykjavik Peak. From the summit, enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the capital below, surrounded by sweeping stretches of grassland and icy ranges. Get an adrenaline rush as you cruise down the mountain tracks and back to base camp.
Relax in the transfer vehicle on the drive back to your Reykjavik hotel, where your tour concludes.

With no prior ATV experience, an enthusiastic partner, and a too-short itinerary in Reykjavik, I still felt that this was a perfect way to fit in some of the beautiful sights Iceland has to offer without committing too much time to one thing. We did this immediately after Sky Lagoon in the morning, and it was extraordinary. From the communication beforehand, to the emphatically beginner-friendly training, to the actual roads (and non-roads) we rode on - it was all excellent. The weather was pretty rough (cold, rainy, windy in late October) but it didn’t matter in the slightest. Once you’re suited up and ready to go, you’re perfectly comfortable and prepared to adventure. Would absolutely do this again.
Patrik was our guide and he was very friendly and excellent throughout our tour and made us feel safe and have a great time! He was very thoughtful in providing suggestions of where to visit and for any food lovers he would have great ideas of places to visit!
Deffo would recommend the experience and booking with Safari Quads!

Safari will fit you in overallls, helmet and gloves when you arrive after your safety briefing. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated the pickup and return from and to our hotel. There was great communication from the company after our booking and prior to our experience. Our guide, Daria, led 6 of us on 3 ATV’s on a fun-filled journey on both easy and challenging paths. It was especially fun plunging through the water and making a big splash! I was content to be the passenger when we started out but when we stopped on top of a mountain to take pictures snd enjoy the panoramic views, Daria encouraged me to give driving a try myself. She agreed to stop at a paved section so my husband and I could trade places and allow me time to become comfortable with driving the ATV before going on more challenging paths. I’m SO glad I had the chance to be the driver as well as the passenger. I highly recommend this experience and hope you are as lucky as we were to have Daria as your guide. She made sure everyone was comfortable with handling the ATV and put forth every effort to make the experience fun for all of us.

My group of 2 adult couples with riding experience a had a perfect clear, dry day which meant minimal mud — just pure fun on the trails!
The ride was very bumpy over rocks, so if you’re riding tandem, the person in the back should be prepared to hold on tight and get thrown around a bit. Our guide, Speedy, was excellent — fast, safe, and entertaining while still adjusting the pace for those who wanted to go slower. He made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free.
The provided gear was top-notch: thick waterproof suits, gloves, headpiece, and helmet kept us warm and dry. On a sunny day like ours, you probably won’t need all your own layers. I even wore sunglasses under the helmet, which was necessary with the bright conditions.
Highly recommend this tour — great adventure right from Reykjavik!

We had an unforgettable time on the Reykjavík Peak ATV tour with Safari Quads. The weather was extreme — high winds, freezing temperatures, and much of Reykjavík was shutting down — yet this team still managed to take us out safely while keeping the adventure fully alive. Amazing experience start to finish! Our guide was super entertaining and very knowledgeable about the area/land as well as history of Iceland in general. From start to finish it was amazing!
They picked us up & dropped us off at our hotel. All equipment was in great shape. The scenery is just breathtaking. If you're considering it, do it. For me it was a once in a lifetime experience & truly spectacular

Great fun! Only downside was I wished it were longer ;) The guide was good fun, he even took photos for us! It was well organized, well maintained ATVs and other equipment, with very thoughtful details for example the heated handlebars.

These are big ATVs, so we rode double. The back seat was super comfortable. Our van driver was Sir Kaktuz and he was so funny. Our lead was Artur and he didn’t have us repeat any of our trails, so it was new and exciting till the end

We had a great time on the two hour ATV excursion. Guides explain things well before you get started and appreciate that the company supplies warm jumpsuits, gloves, face masks and helmets. Driving through areas with the purple lupines in June was beautiful.

ATVs are really fun, and the person who guided us was very thoughtful and interesting. But I didn’t realize that riding one would make my arms so tired! I’d recommend people who don’t usually ride motorcycles to try another vehicle that’s more like a car.

The Safari Quads Team will provide all the necessary gear. Bring wet pants and a wet jacket in case of wet conditions. Listen to the tour guide when they tell you to bundle up, we don’t regret doing so, they were right. In case of wet conditions do bring something to cover your shoes unless they’re waterproof.
Be conscious and mindful, the tour guy can only go as fast as the slowest person. You may want to call and consult about this. In our case, we were lucky because the other ATV couple were going just as fast as we were, which was pretty much as fast as the ATVs could go. In this case, we were able to have a long, exciting fast and full of joy though safe tour. The tour guy would wait for us in dangerous intersections and would be careful to warn us.
