Highlight of our ring road trip!
This experience was one of the highlights of our two week ring road trip. I have been on many atv tours all over the world but this one was the coolest. We went through many different terrains. Black sand beach and going through mud was fun but then we got to ride through a pretty big river which I had never done. But the best was seeing the abandoned plane. I had only seen in in pics but it was so cool to see in person and hear the story about what happened and why it was there.

All around excellent experience
The pre-trip communications were timely and informative, the on-site operations were well orchestrated, and the glacier hike itself was breathtaking and informative. Their customer service was excellent from beginning to end. We hiked with our 11 year old and two 14 year old boys, and they were able to complete the moderate glacier hike with some motivation from parents. It was the highlight of our trip.

Daniel, our hiking and...
Daniel, our hiking and climbing guide, was fantastic. His knowledge, humor, expertise, and skill set was perfect for our group. He made us feel safe and let us be adventurous all at once. I would highly recommend Daniel for your glacier hike and climb.

An unforgettable first ice cave experience
This was my first visit to an ice cave, and it exceeded every expectation.
Our guide, Hawk, made the experience exceptional. Friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable, he combined fascinating insights about the glacier and Katla volcano with just the right amount of humor. He also explained how much the glacier has retreated during his years as a guide, adding an important perspective to what we were seeing.
The Super Jeep ride was part of the fun, and once on the glacier, Hawk timed our visit perfectly so our group could enjoy the cave/glacier without feeling crowded. From the outside, the glacier appears almost black because it’s covered with volcanic ash, but stepping inside reveals beautiful blue ice layered with ash —a striking contrast that’s even more impressive in person.
This was one of the highlights of my Iceland trip. If you’re considering an ice cave tour from Vík, I wouldn’t hesitate to book this one.

10000/10 experience!
This was such an amazing tour. We had the best time with our guide Ingo. We drove to the ice cave with a few picture stops on the way, and Ingo told us all about the geography and history of the area. The ice cave itself was fantastic, it was amazing to see the different layers and the landscape. We also did a bit of exploring afterwards to see different waterfalls and areas near the ice cave and on the glacier. We then made our way home with a quick drive across black sand beach. I would highly recommend this tour, especially Ingo!

Glacier hike
Wonderful experience. We wanted to spend some time on the glacier and I feel like this trip helped us see many different parts. We learned a lot. The guide was great and patient with anyone who needed more help on the ice. All the staff were welcoming

Wonderful experience with young kids
We had a wonderful and unforgettable experience with the Ice cave tour by Katlatrack. Our guide Ines was very knowledgeable and amicable. She took her time to explain all the relevant details and any questions we had. Not every company conducting the Ice cave tour allows 7 yrs old kids. Katlatrack does and Ines, our guide, took great care of all the young kids in our group including my daughter. Highly recommended.

The most magical day!
This tour far exceeded our expectations! We visited 5 beautiful locations and each one was better than the last. We absolutely loved getting to see places we wouldn’t have been able to experience without a super jeep and a guide! Thorsmork is beyond beautiful. The guide Simeon was wonderful - kind, knowledgeable and took great care of us. Lunch boxes (ordered separately from Midgard) were delicious and we highly recommend. We also had a great dinner at the base camp after the tour!

Amazing experience!
This was an amazing experience. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is a bit of a trek up to the entrance of the ice cave but the guide paused in a few spots to let people catch their breath and to ensure everyone stayed together. It is not a trip for people with mobility issues or small children.

Hella awesome!
If you’re visiting Iceland, I highly recommend doing the Katla Ice Cave tour. It’s a truly unique natural wonder and something you won’t forget.
The super jeep ride across the rugged landscape to reach the cave was an adventure in itself and really added to the experience. It was beautiful with all the snow.
Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the glacier and the area. They explained how the cave forms under the glacier and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout the tour.

Land of Fire and Ice
Lava show in Vik (guided by Luis) introduced us to volcano science and Katla geopark. It was a nice way to learn a little about the area and its relationship/history with the volcano. We were going to explore the Katla geopark/glacier the following day, so the show gave me more appreciation for the landscape, the history, and the residents. Plus it was nice to sit back, share a beer during the show and remove some layers due to the rising heat of the room. (And the soup next door is pretty tasty too).

Do this tour!
Solheimajokull 3 hour glacier hike. This was an amazing hike. Our guide Eli was fantastic and made the trip safe and exciting. We hiked pretty far up on the glacier and saw how they measure the change in size of the glacier over the season. It was a bit harder to walk on the glacier than I thought even with the cramp-ons provided, but I would 100% recommend everyone take this tour.

Vik may not have an exciting name—it just translates to “bay” in Icelandic—but this town on the southern tip of Iceland is anything but boring. Sign a waiver, and within minutes, Vik tours will have you riding in a buggy along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, exploring an ice cave under Katla Volcano, or snowmobiling above it on Mýrdalsjökull, the country’s fourth-largest glacier. Ziplining, paragliding, and kayaking (in a glacial lagoon) are all options if you go with a guide.
