- Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary from minimal to very bright suddenly.
- SPECIAL NOTE: We encourage our guests to not reserve the tour on the same day of arrival to the Island, including coming from Vieques or Culebra. If the FLIGHT or FERRY is delayed and the guest misses the tour the guest will not be entitled to a refund or rescheduling.
- TOUR TIME might change depending on sunset time. If so we will send a reminder for updated meeting time.
- This tour takes place in the water. Expect to get completely wet. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. We recommend to bring a change of clothes and towel for after the trip.
- Tour is not canceled in rainy days. We will get wet anyways ;)

The location never opened and the phone was never answered. No voicemail either, because it’s not set up! I paid over $100 in Uber service for this HORRIBLE experience. Was supposed to leave at 6, and arrive 30 minutes prior…NOTHING!! Not even a text! Worst experience ever! And this was my “closing” of my trip to Puerto Rico.
Response from Host, Sep 2026
Dear Blondie_G,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this caused, especially as this was the final activity of your trip to Puerto Rico.
We would like to clarify that we did attempt to contact you using the phone number provided with your reservation and left a voicemail. Unfortunately, it appears you may have been using a different phone number, which prevented us from reaching you. We understand how disappointing this situation must have been, and a full refund was issued for your reservation.
We take communication and our guests’ experience very seriously and will continue working to ensure we provide clear and reliable communication before every tour. We sincerely regret that we were unable to connect with you that evening and hope you’ll give us another opportunity in the future.

The tour was wonderful! The Lake and scenery was really great and we were lucky enough to see the bioluminescence with a tarp. The company partially refunded us for not the best bioluminescence conditions but regardless would have been wonderful!
Response from Host, Sep 2026
Hi Maria_R,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the tour, the beautiful scenery, and the opportunity to experience the bioluminescence. We’re also glad our team could help make the experience special. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back for another glowing adventure! ✨🛶🌌

Horrible customer service. Natalia was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was very disappointed with the way I was treated and expected much better customer service. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Hello Ashley Gonzalez,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry that you were disappointed with your experience. However, we would like to clarify the circumstances for the benefit of future guests.
Our kayak tour has a clearly stated 240 lb maximum weight limit per participant, which is provided in the tour information and booking instructions through Viator. At the time of booking, the weights provided for your group indicated that all participants were within the required limit.
Upon arrival, one participant’s actual weight was 294 lbs. For safety reasons, we could not allow that guest to participate, as exceeding the kayak’s weight capacity is a safety matter that we cannot make exceptions to. Our host communicated this privately and respectfully, with the intention of handling the situation as discreetly and professionally as possible.
Although we were not required to do so, we also offered and provided a reimbursement for that participant’s tour space as a gesture of goodwill.
We understand that this was disappointing for your group, but safety requirements must be applied consistently to all guests. We stand by the way our team handled the situation and are sorry that the necessary safety decision was perceived as poor customer service. We remain committed to treating every guest with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.

What a work out !! This activity was fun and new for my boyfriend and I , but boy will your arms get tired !!!! We still enjoyed ourselves regardless, and the guides were there every step of the way for us. I only gave it a for because we paid for the bio experience, BUT before booking there is a disclaimer saying it depends on the moon so I can’t even be mad or say they were false advertising because we were already told about it. Fun experience, I’d highly recommend this activity !
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Hello Dyerie_B,
Thank you so much for joining us and for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your boyfriend had fun, even with the extra arm workout! 😊 We truly appreciate your understanding that bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon influenced by changing environmental conditions, and that it cannot be guaranteed. We’re especially happy our guides were there to support you every step of the way. Thank you for the recommendation—we hope to paddle with you again soon! 🌌🛶

We took the 8pm tour on 8/17 which the moon was a waxing crescent (26.8% illumination) and it was definitely dark and thrilling kayaking thru the mangrove channel. We did see the faint bioluminescence, however better viewing with the tarp covering.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Hello JIMMY_R, thank you for taking the time to write this review.

Not worth it, unless you simply want to see what it is like to kayak in the dark with 100 inexperienced people and watch them crash into the mangroves. The extent of the bioluminescence was this: once your kayak reaches the bay, they throw a tarp over your head (gross) and tell you to put your arm into the water up to your elbow and swish it around, and you see the tiniest flicker of glitter. This is NOT AT ALL what the pictures portray, and we went on the later tour (8pm), 5 days after a new moon on a night with no rain. I would NOT recommend doing this trip (from Fajardo) unless you do it off the island of Vieques. **side note, the excursion company was up front about this and sent us a message in advance of the tour indicating that there was little to no chance of seeing anything and offered a $10pp...we thought it would still be fun, but in the end it was not worth $200+ for the 4 of us
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Hello Kelly_H,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry the experience did not meet your expectations. As you kindly noted, we were completely upfront before the tour about the low-to-no bioluminescence conditions and even offered a $10-per-person discount should you choose to continue.
We’d also like to clarify that we are currently in low season, so the number of kayakers mentioned in your review does not reflect the actual group size during this period.
Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon, and its intensity can change significantly from night to night, which is unfortunately beyond our control. We appreciate you giving the experience a chance and taking the time to share your feedback. It helps us continue improving and setting clear expectations for our guests.

There is no guarantee that there will be bioluminescence, because it's depends on many factors including rain, bacteria, and light pollution. We kayaked out through a mangrove for a km to get there where it was nice and dark. When we got there we were able to see a small amount. We can only imagine how neat it must look on a 10/10 night. Even though we only saw a little, it was still worth every penny. Our tour guides were nice and one let us hold a firefly (lightning bug) and we had good conversations. Shout-out to Eli, Javier, Amaury, and Catalina who were working that day. Great group of people!

You should absolutely do this experience while you are in PR and this is the outfitter you want to choose. The guides are so so helpful. We called ahead with some questions about our seven year old and Natalia was so helpful. She talked us thru everything and even gave some great suggestions about parking and getting dinner ahead of time.
Gustavo did a great job with the quick kayaking lesson. I was so impressed with how much he was able to cover. And he kept it light and humorous which helps if anyone in your group is nervous.
This experience was our trip highlight. We did it with a 12 year old, a ten year old and a 7 year old. It was a great fit for our kids (they are pretty adventurous).
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Hello Jason_G, thank you for such a great review. It was a pleasure to be able to help and answer all of your questions. We are glad your family had a great adventure. Thank you for recommending us. Hopefully we see you soon, don't forget to use our returning guest discount !

Overall it was nice to kayak in the bay and mangroves at night. It was however, very crowded overall with too many kayakers. They were upfront about the lower chances of bioluminesce due to the moon phase so I was not disappointed. If it was possible to have smaller groups and maybe some recommendations about noise/drunking singing so everyone could enjoy the excursion more peacefully, I would have given a higher review.
Melisa_R, Aug 2026
It was fun but the actual bioluminescent experience was a bit of a let down. Still glad we did it because the night kayaking experience was so fun. You go through the mangroves… very beautiful scenery. Not recommended for young children especially if they’re afraid of the dark.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Hello Melisa_R, thank you for your feedback. We’re so glad you enjoyed the kayaking experience. We’d just like to clarify that whenever the bioluminescence is lower than expected, we always notify our guests beforehand so they can decide whether they’d still like to participate. We also recommend the earliest tour for families with young children, as it allows them to see the area while it’s still light, although the later tour is also suitable and the choice is always up to the parents.Thank you again for sharing your experience!

It was a unique experience! The guides were amazing and very informative. Unfortunately, we went when there was a full moon, so it was difficult to see the bioluminescents. However, kayaking at night in the mangroves was a fun experience. You will get wet! Be prepared! You have to wade in the water to and from the kayak. The water was knee-deep to hip-deep. Dress accordingly!

My family had so much fun out on the kayaks. It's worth the experience whether or not weather allows the bay to glow or not. The mangroves are beautiful to go through, and learning about the bio bay was interesting! I had adult children down to a 12 year old. I saw kids around four or five years old as well. Our entire group had a lot of fun! Would definitely do this again!
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Hello Emily_J, thank you so much for your kind review! We’re so happy your family had a wonderful time and enjoyed exploring the mangroves and learning about the bio bay. We did want to clarify one small detail for future guests: for safety reasons, children 5 years old and under are not permitted on our kayak tour. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Puerto Rico!

Fun to kayak through the mangroves but did not see any bioluminescence. Underwhelming experience on the lagoon. Should’ve made the trip to Mosquito Bay instead, perhaps. If you want a nice kayak adventure, though, it’s fine.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Hello Mary_M, thank you for your feedback. In the description and details of the tour it explains everything that might be seen. We inform our customers of the conditions of the bioluminescence. This is a natural phenomenon it goes up and down during the year. All of this is also informed in the tour details, it is important to read these to know what to expect before going on the tour.
Thank you.

This experience is not like it's mentioned and being original from the island i felt robbed.
They had 15 kayaking most with no experience through a Mangles maze.
They had enough tour guides but not enough lights to light up the path. At some point my partner and I with ok experience in kayaking we were in the front line in the peach black. If I hadn't taken my phone God knows. We got hit by Mangles Trees on our faces and body. They didn't say you can loose an eye. Wich will be a law suit if it happened.
Secondly if my math is right this people profit 1995 per trip just to put a tarp over our heads and see nothing.
I'm from the island and believe me is not that hard to see Bioluminescent water. And if the salgado is keeping it down why still profit thousands of dollars, and covering yourself with the, is not guaranteed due to Mother nature bull$&*
I do not recommend.
The only good thing was star gazing and getting 100 facts from Eli which was not worth the money at all.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Hello Anais_S,
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry the tour did not meet your expectations. Prior to departure, every guest is fully informed about the current bioluminescence conditions and is given the option to participate or cancel. As this tour takes place within a protected nature reserve, we do not use lights in the mangrove channels, as doing so would disturb the wildlife and diminish the natural experience. This is a nighttime kayaking tour conducted in natural darkness, and while many guests enjoy this unique environment, we understand it may not be the right fit for everyone. We appreciate your comments and are pleased to hear you enjoyed the stargazing and Eli’s informative presentation.

The staff and guides we great however the experience in itself was a complete disappointment. There was absolutely no bioluminescence to be seen…even with putting a tarp over us. The smell and the mosquitoes were pretty bad. I also feel the tour was over crowded.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Hello Todd_k,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not fully meet your expectations.
We want to clarify that all guests are contacted prior their tour and informed of the current bioluminescence conditions. At that time, everyone—including your group—was given the option to either continue with the tour at a discounted rate or cancel. Your group chose to participate with the discounted option.
We also include reminders before every tour advising guests that mosquitoes are common. Additionally, because this is a natural mangrove ecosystem, we inform guests that there may be a natural not-pleasant smell depending on environmental conditions.
Our goal is always to provide transparent information so guests can make an informed decision before their tour. While natural conditions such as bioluminescence intensity, insects, and odors are beyond our control, we appreciate your feedback and will continue doing our best to ensure every guest has a positive experience.

I arrived 30 minutes early to see if our canoe trip could be rescheduled because the wind was around 16 mph and the water was very choppy. There were nine people in our group, and I wasn’t willing to put anyone’s safety at risk by going out in those conditions.
When we arrived, the employee was standing off to the side talking on her cell phone on what appeared to be a personal call. She clearly saw us waiting but continued her conversation instead of helping us. We had to wait until our scheduled start time before she finally spoke with us.
Unfortunately, she was unable to accommodate a reschedule, so we decided not to take the trip. While I understand the company’s no-refund policy, I believe safety should come first. When weather conditions make a canoe trip potentially dangerous, there should be more flexibility to reschedule rather than expecting customers to choose between losing their money or risking their safety.
I’m giving one star only because zero stars isn’t an option. Better customer service and more concern for customer safety would have made a big difference.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
hello Loenardo_S, Thank you for your feedback. We would like to address a few points mentioned .
Safety is always our number 1 priority, with this in mind the conditions for the day mentioned were favorable for the excursion. This is because you do not go to open ocean where the waves are relatively bigger, we go through a mangrove Channel which no wind or waves affect it. Only low or high tide.
We have a scheduled check in time. Our hostess has other things to attend prior to check in time for our second group. Our tour guides try to give everyone their full attention when providing a service. Keep in mind she receives calls from incoming clients on their way to the tour also.
We are a company with 20 + years of experience as mentioned safety is our priority, in this specific area wind and rains is normal weather. Especially when in a tropical Island.
Thank you for your feed back.

The crew was knowledgeable, up front about the weather/light viewing to be minimal and helpful.
We still decided to book the trip. After walking through the seaweed to get to the kayaks - the ride out and back was an adventure.
They provided bug spray and snacks with water upon our return & held car keys for safe keeping.
Long pants were helpful but regardless I did get wet from the waist down. Water shoes and a water protector case to carry your phones is a must. Bring a change of clothes and towel for when you get out.
