Great tour within Sascha today. He provided great instructions to find the meeting point and was there on time. Very friendly and knowledgable and gave a great insight into Cologne with some added humour and a brilliant coffee stop. Thank you again

Very informative and entertaining guide. Lots of historical information and a good overview of the cathedral and old Cologne. Multi lingual and funny Also attentive to my partners special needs (walker) without being overly solicitous or condescending

Great Experience

Elena_L, Sep 2026
The guide is very knowledgeable, friendly and funny! The tour itself is also not too strenuous even for 2 hours, great overview of all the major sights in the city.

A great tour with a fantastic guide. Sascha has a great depth of history knowledge to share and a lovely sense of humour woven through. We enjoyed every moment of the tour.

Not the best

landra_h, Sep 2026
Lots of knowledge, but really likes to take you to places that most of us don’t want to see. Louis Vuitton, a huge hotel “where he’s the only guide allowed inside”. Coffee for him- and wanting us to buy souvenirs??

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you for the review. Feedback is welcome, but this one contains several serious misunderstandings that need to be corrected. The reviewer mentions “lots of knowledge,” which is appreciated. Yet after a 120-minute historical and cultural tour, the main complaints seem to be Louis Vuitton, coffee and souvenirs. Louis Vuitton was NOT part of the tour. The store is in a historic building directly opposite the meeting point. The guide made a brief passing remark about the building — nothing more. Turning a few seconds of historical commentary into “Louis Vuitton” being part of the tour is a fundamental misrepresentation of what happened. The hotel was not “just a huge hotel.” The Excelsior Hotel Ernst is a historic Cologne landmark dating to 1863, with major historical and cultural significance, including connections to Andy Warhol and one of his world-famous works. Its history has even featured in documentaries about Cologne. Most importantly, ordinary visitors — and not every tour guide — can simply enter these areas with a group. The guide is trusted and permitted to bring guests inside, which is a genuine privilege and professional distinction. On this visit, hotel staff even showed the group a special room normally inaccessible to the public, as well as an exceptionally valuable unique original piece. That is genuine insider access — not “just a hotel.” And the coffee? Five minutes. A good local café was recommended as an insider tip; the guide grabbed a coffee to go and continued the tour. There was no souvenir shopping, no sales pitch, no pressure, no commission and no kickback. In fact, the guide strictly refuses commissions or kickbacks of any kind. Suggesting otherwise is not merely inaccurate — it is an unfounded accusation against the guide’s professional integrity. Guests frequently ask for recommendations for good cafés, restaurants and local places. Providing those recommendations is part of sharing genuine local knowledge. The most revealing fact is this: the coffee took approximately 5 minutes of a 120-minute tour. The remaining 115 minutes were devoted to the history, culture, stories and knowledge the reviewer herself acknowledges. So: Louis Vuitton — never part of the tour. Hotel — historic landmark and privileged insider access. Special room — normally not accessible to the public. Coffee — 5 minutes, to go. Souvenirs — never promoted. Commissions/kickbacks — categorically rejected. Everyone is entitled to three stars. But there is a difference between disliking a tour and attributing commercial motives to a guide that simply did not exist. The reviewer was given two hours of history, knowledge and genuine insider access. Unfortunately, the review seems to have focused on approximately five minutes of it — and even those five minutes were fundamentally misunderstood.

Great Tour

Ralph was engaging, thoughtful and very knowledgeable. He was open to any questions and made the tour very user friendly. Would highly recommended booking with him if you’re looking for a day tour

Nice guide

Good guide. Interesting data. It is good that even if there is not a big group, the activity is not cancelles as in other plataforms

Funny and informative!

This was an exceptionally fun tour! Sascha is very funny and also very informative. Our group of ladies really enjoyed our time!

A Good tour of downtown Cologne

Corey_S, Jul 2026
It was a good tour. The guide had lots of interesting info to share, and took us around to some pretty cool spots. He explained a ton of history as we walked as well. He was great with the whole group too. I would recommend bringing and umbrella for shade though, but that's more about Cologne than this tour specifically.

Really enjoyed the city tour. Sasha was very informative. It was just long enough to see the city. I would recommend it

Request ignored

Suzanne_H, Jul 2026
The arrangements for the walk in Cologne on 10 July were very excellent. However, we informed Sascha (the guide) on the number he had provided 30 minutes before the 12:00 starting time of the walk that the train was delayed and requested that he wait a few minutes, but he didn't answer his phone or respond. When I arrived at 12:05 he had already left the meeting point. He only responded to the request later that day, indicating that he had been too busy to attend to the request. Consequently, I missed the walk that I could have done had he responded to a reasonable request to wait a few minutes.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

While we appreciate your positive comments regarding the tour arrangements, we would like to clarify several inaccurate statements. The organization you praised was prepared entirely by Sascha himself. All guests receive detailed meeting information in advance, including clear WhatsApp messages or SMS with detailed instructions whenever available as praised very often by tour guests. In some cases, and where operationally possible, in addition even a live location is also shared with WhatsApp users to help late-arriving guests easily locate the group's current position. The claim that the guide had already left the meeting point by 12:05 is clearly inconsistent with how this tour is conducted. The tour begins at the Petrus Fountain, where approximately 10–12 minutes are spent explaining the meeting point, its history, and the view of Cologne Cathedral plus interesting details seen from the meeting point before the group moves on. This means the group normally remains at the meeting point during that time. In addition, especially with larger groups, a short grace period is usually allowed whenever possible, as travel delays can occur. The review also states that a message was sent around 30 minutes before the tour. On this particular day, however, the guide was already conducting a previous tour before starting the next one. As a result, it was not possible to continuously monitor or respond to calls and messages while actively guiding guests. Later, during the tour itself, the guide's responsibility was to the large group of participants who had arrived on time. A reply was therefore sent as soon as circumstances permitted. We regret that the guest was unable to join the tour. However, the description in this review does not accurately reflect what occurred, and the one-star rating is not proportionate to the actual circumstances.

2026 Germany Trip

AllenandBetsie_L, Jul 2026
Sascha did a wonderful job in explaining the history of Cologne Cathedral and pointing out the really important history around Munich. The Rhine River was interesting to see, along with the other historical treasures. We had a great time.

Great historical and entertaining tour

Michelle_L, Jul 2026
The tour was excellent, and Sasha put a lot of effort into being knowledgeable, funny, and entertaining. We learned so much more history from him than we did from a bus tour the previous day. The entire family recommends this tour.

Great Tour on a Hot Day!

smills3082, Jul 2026
It was quite hot on the day of our tour, but our tour guide, Sascha, kept the tour very enjoyable by including lots of humor and anecdotes in his stories. We appreciated that he walked us through stories throughout the whole existence of the cathedral from all sides and perspectives. He even took the time to stop at a local cafe for iced lattes which was much appreciated with how hot it was!

Tour - Köln 3 Wise Men 🪄

Sabrina_F, Jun 2026
Our tour guide, Sascha, did an amazing job keeping the tour engaging through humor, knowledge and connection to the city of the three wise men! A wonderful tour, even in the heat of Europe.

It was very interesting!...

Kayce_H, Jun 2026
Despite the sweltering summer heat, our guide kept the tour engaging, informative, and enjoyable from start to finish. We learned so much about the city’s history, architecture, and local culture—things we never would have discovered on our own. We also got recommendations for local restaurants and hidden gems. We ended up eating at one of the places our guide suggested, and it was fantastic! It made us feel like we were experiencing the city the way locals do. If you’re visiting and want an authentic, fun, and educational experience, I highly recommend this tour. Thank you for making our time here so memorable!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

This review is for Sacha He is the most informed and entertaining guide that we have had here in Germany. He provides helpful information about the places and the timeframe of all the exhibits that we have seen, especially around the Cologne Cathedral. He also took us to see the places that are interesting to us tourists.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much! :)

A great introduction to Cologne.

Sascha was an excellent tour guide - great balance of informative and entertaining. He pointed out sites we would not have found on our own. Highly recommend!

Wonderful tour of Köln!

Susan_B, May 2026
My husband and I enjoyed the guided walking tour with Sascha. We found him to be informative, friendly and very entertaining. His comedic approach earns him a sixth star if that was available. The tour itself walks around the cathedral and ends there. Plan extra time to tour inside on your own (free). Otherwise the tour was a perfect pace and could be enjoyed by most able bodied people despite age.

Amazing!

Kristel_I, May 2026
Sascha, our guide, is excellent. He told us many funny stories about Cologne city while strolling around you wont know you hv spent 2hrs there. 🥰

The information about the...

Melanie_E, May 2026
The information about the Cathedral was excellent. Seeing the river, bridge and several squares were helpful for when we went back on our own. The coffes shop owned by the Turkish gentleman was a nice stop. Sasch sent a picture of himself and our meeting place which was helpful. A little more history of Cologne during WWII could be added.

The guide had very thick...

XINBO_F, May 2026
The guide had very thick German accent. Couldn’t understand him at times. Other than that it was a fine tour.

Response from Host, May 2026

Well, not every guide speaks such excellent English, almost like a native speaker. If I may say so, Sascha speaks such good English—including his pronunciation—that people have often asked him, in all seriousness, which English-speaking country he’s from. But the guide you had was certainly a good one, too.

Super Sacha

Maria_R, May 2026
We love the tour! Sasha was very funny and informative. Also we was also looking after us to got safe to Cologne. Gracias por todo Sacha

Great walking tour with Sacha

Deb_K, Apr 2026
Sacha was a wonderful tour guide! He sent a picture of himself and the meeting place before the toru which was very helpful! He had great knowledge of the city and Cathedral and a fun sense of humor as well. A full two hour walking tour. Iwe would highly recommend this tour. He gave the tour in both English and German for our mixed group.
