Great experience, highly recommend to go. Chef was very nice, talked about the produce and ways to select ripest ones. Went through some history of the food in the area. Making your own food was fun, highly recommend to anyone thinking about culinary interests.

If you’re staying at a resort and looking for something fun to do, I recommend this activity. It was great to learn about the Mexican culture, exploring the market and being able to try dishes you normally wouldn’t have. It was a very fun and interactive experience. The hosts were great as well. Super knowledgeable and friendly.

HORRIBLE communication 0/10 dont recommend!!

I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with this Viator booking for the “Mexican Cooking Class with Local Market and Transportation” on March 26, 2026—and I never even got to attend the class. The issue started when I accidentally selected the wrong pickup location (The Westin instead of Aloft in the hotel zone where I was staying that night). As soon as I realized my mistake around 7 PM the evening before, I immediately tried to contact the company. The only option available was a chat box, so I sent a message requesting to change the pickup location. After waiting with no response, I assumed nothing could be done. The next morning, I reread the policy stating no changes within 24 hours, so I took responsibility and Ubered to the original pickup location (The Westin), arriving around 9:10–9:15 AM—well before the 9:30 start time. While waiting, I checked the chat again and saw that the company had responded the night before (around 9:15 PM) saying they could switch my pickup location—but by then it was too late. I was already at the original location. At that point, everything fell apart. I tried desperately to contact the company—through the chat, and by calling, and even via WhatsApp—but received no meaningful response. The hotel I had just left (Aloft) confirmed no one had arrived for pickup. Meanwhile, staff at The Westin also said no one had come looking for guests. Eventually, I received a vague message around 9:48 AM thanking me for my communication—but offering no help whatsoever. By then, I had clearly missed the pickup. I even tried to salvage the situation by asking for the class location so I could Uber there myself, but they provide no address for the actual class—only pickup details. So despite doing everything I could, I was completely stuck. To make matters worse, I later found out the driver apparently showed up at the Aloft around 9:29 AM (one minute before the class start time), asked for me briefly, and left. No call. No message. No effort to actually reach me—despite me actively trying to contact them the entire time. I paid extra for transportation, which ended up being the very reason I couldn’t attend. Had I not selected pickup, I could have simply gone to the class myself. The lack of communication from this company is unacceptable and ultimately cost me the entire experience. Viator’s response made things even worse. They claimed they conducted an “investigation” and found me at fault—without ever asking me for any information or evidence. It felt like a complete brush-off, likely because they profit from these bookings and have no incentive to support customers when things go wrong. Bottom line: I lost $100 on an experience I was genuinely excited about, all because of poor communication and a disorganized system. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against booking this activity. If you do, avoid the pickup option at all costs. This felt incredibly shady, and I would not trust this company again.

Cooking Mexican cuisine in Mexico!

Clifford_L, Apr 2026
A great experience. What better place to learn Mexican cuisine. The walk at the market was great, the location of the cooking class was great! Overall experience was awesome! Sasha and his team really know how to you well.

Excellent excursion

Fun, informative and yummy. Very comforting group and welcoming restaurant where class takes place, La Parilla. Going to the market was just like being in a travel show. Chef Sash was an excellent teacher and fun to be with.

Very full day, prepare for lots of standing and walking, prepare to be hot. OTOH, prepare to learn how to make authentic Mexican food and maybe make new friends!

If you're looking for a local cooking class, book this!

Tysha_a, Mar 2026
Sasha and Angel were fantastic! We came in from Puerto Morales and they picked us up with no issues. The market was so fun to walk through, we got some great tips about produce. And fresh tortillas off the machine are amazing. Plus there was some time to do a little shopping. Learning how to cook some traditional dishes was fantastic and we got some tips on what could be used locally. Sasha is very engaging, obviously loves food and people. We left feeling full and happy.

Mexican cooking class March 20th Cancun

Anna_C, Mar 2026
Sasha and Alex were excellent guides. sasha was funny and entertaining and showed us around the Mercado. Then, we wandered around and did some shopping and he gave us plenty of time. then, we went to a restaurant and made guacamole. Tortillas, sopas and had some delicious margueriteas. he gave us a lot of information about mexican cooking and anecdotes about growing up with his grandmother and learning cooking tips from her. everything was delicious and it was a lot of fun.

Great choice

Alicia_G, Mar 2026
Sasha was awesome. The market visit was great! I wish we could have been part of picking out some of the ingredients while we were there, and could have made our own margaritas as part of the experience, but overall the class was great. The dietary accommodation was very much appreciated and we had a great time.

We had such a fabulous time on our market tour and cooking class. Sasha, Angel, and G were great! I learned so much about Mexican culture and cuisine. Sasha is a talented cook, and I loved to learn about some of the foods he grew up with. One note, I am an ambulatory wheelchair user, and had my wheelchair on this tour. I was able to stand up to negotiate the steps at the market and the entrance to the restaurant, but if you are a full time wheelchair user and can’t stand or negotiate a few steps , you would probably find this excursion difficult.

Amazing and fun cooking class and market visit. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Cancun as a must-do item

Shikha_A, Mar 2026
The cooking class by Sasha was an awesome experience learning how to make fresh Mexican delicacies and the tips and tricks of cooking delicious Mexican food. We appreciated and enjoyed all the information, knowledge, humour and banter. Angel was a big help in grilling and keeping the cooking class moving along. We also had a great experience going through the market and learning all about how to pick fresh vegetables, fruits and getting all the local and cultural aspects from Sasha. The food turned out so delicious. We made fresh guacamole, sope, enchiladas, quesadillas, fresh tortillas, salsa, and rice pudding. Our hearts and tummies were so full and happy! The restaurant La Parilla was beautiful and the servers and bartender were very kind and amazing as well! We would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Cancun.

Definitely Must Do

Jackie_D, Mar 2026
This is a great experience. Sasha took us through the market and showed us how to select the best produce. Had some time to shop for a bit. The restaurant where he held the cooking class is very close to the market, so the travel time was really just to and from the hotel. We had a class size of only 7. We were hands-on making the food and learning the why and how along the way, and with some tips to adjust flavors to our individual liking. Very informative, and we would do it again!!

Fun cooking and learning

Deanene_D, Mar 2026
G, our guide, was great. We really enjoyed the authentic experience at the market and the cooking experience afterwards. The food was delicious and G was very knowledgeable.

This cooking class was the absolute highlight of the trip. It was a genuine delight to learn about the market from a local, and learn about the ingredients from a chef. I can't recommend this enough.

A Fun Day!

terry_w, Feb 2026
Sasha and Angel were fantastic. The trip to the local market was fun and educational. Don’t skip it. The cooking class was hands on and we prepared our own lunch from the fresh market ingredients. From the time we were picked up at our resort to the time we returned, our guides worked to made it fun.

Cancún cooking class

Sasha was very friendly and informative about the meat, fruit and vegetable markets. It was a real treat to walk through and have time to shop. The recipes were delicious. Learning to make an enchilada sauce with roasted chiles and onions and tomatoes was fun. Pressing tortillas was a new skill I learned. Thanks to Angel for roasting all the vegetables! The restaurant staff were very friendly and courteous.

We consider ourselves foodies and enjoy cooking more than most people - we still walked away with some authentic tips and tricks! Chef G and Alex made our market visit and class enjoyable for our entire group. Thanks Guys!

We really enjoyed this class

Holly_G, Feb 2026
I really enjoyed this class (we didnt do the market)....which was about 2.5 hours long. Fun instructor....good selection of cooking options...and history of the foods and alternative spicing options suggested. Also just fun to meet others on vacation in Cancun
