Top Tromso Bird Watching in 2026

Northern Norway is steeped in the culture of the Indigenous Sámi people and this tour provides a glimpse of their traditional culture that most travelers miss. Visit a Sámi camp in the Lyngen Alps, sit down to a hot meal in a traditional lavvu, and meet and feed dozens of reindeer. Bonus: If the skies stay clear, be sure to look up for the glowing, flowing northern lights.

Chase the night sky in search of the northern lights during this small-group tour from Tromso. Sit down in front of a crackling campfire and enjoy a bowl of warm soup before heading out on your evening adventure. Drive away from city light pollution and discover one or more spots to enjoy the nature show. Sit back and relax while your guide takes photos that are emailed after the tour.

Maximize your chances of seeing humpback whales and orcas on a boat safari from Tromsø to Skjervøy. Cruise along a rugged landscape toward the best places to see the mighty mammals, as well as the region's thriving populations of sea birds, while the expert crew fills you in on the unique ecosystem and the fascinating lives of northern Norway’s marine life.

Driving your own team of huskies is an out of the ordinary experience and a must-do for anyone visiting Northern Norway. The dog sled has been used for centuries throughout the Arctic region, mainly for travel, hunting and transportation. Even if outdoor winter adventures are not your thing, this tour offers you a chance to check this traditional experience off your list and take lots of photos. Two people will share one sled: one as a driver and the other one as a passenger. You will get a chance to swap places halfway through the tour, so that everyone gets to experience the life of a dog musher, but also have time to take all the photographs they want. When you change back to your normal clothes from the polar suits and wave one last goodbye to the huskies, you’ll be driven back to the city with an experience of a lifetime behind you and spectacular photos to show for it!
