Outstanding Hualien / Taroko National Park Tour with a Private Guide

We had a fantastic private tour of Taroko National Park and Hualien with Sam and couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the area, which made the entire day both enjoyable and memorable. We visited Qixingtan Beach and several stops throughout Taroko National Park. Many of the official hiking trails were still closed following the 2024 earthquake, but Sam did an excellent job adapting the itinerary. He took us to beautiful vantage points we hadn’t seen during our previous visit in 2019, giving us a completely fresh experience. What really stood out was the depth of insight Sam shared—from the park’s history to fun details like the meaning behind the marble “balls” inside the dog-mouth carvings on the Loving Mother Bridge. Those little touches made the tour feel special and personal. Sam also took us to a great hot pot restaurant in Taroko, conveniently located near where we had stayed on our last trip—such a thoughtful and spot-on suggestion. Since many trails were closed, he brought us to hike the Sakul Trail instead, which turned out to be a highlight—beautiful waterfall views and plenty of monkeys along the way! Our final stop at General’s Mansion was another place we hadn’t visited before and a great way to round out the day. Highly recommend Sam if you’re looking for a flexible, informative, and genuinely enjoyable private tour experience in Hualien!

Charlie was the most amazing driver/guide/person we could have ever hoped for. I could spend the whole day writing about our day out with him. We had the most incredible experience with our driver in Kaohsiung. From the moment he picked us up, he was kind, patient, professional, and genuinely cared about making our day special. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything we wanted, adjusted the itinerary to fit our interests, and never once made us feel rushed. He taught us so much about this beautiful country. He took us through beautiful countryside, temples, Monkey Mountain, and hidden scenic spots we never would have found on our own. His driving was safe and smooth the entire day, and he was so thoughtful and accommodating with my family. You can tell he truly takes pride in what he does. What stood out most was his kindness and heart. This did not feel like a standard tour — it felt like spending the day with someone who genuinely wanted us to fall in love with Taiwan. We absolutely did. If you are considering booking this tour, do it. This was the highlight of our entire trip, and we will remember this experience forever. Amazing tour

The tour was amazing and Iris made it enjoyable and educational. She was excellent. As a group we were well looked after and were given insight into the country and culture that we may not have known. Shifen waterfall was spectacular and Jiufen old town was magical, especially at dusk! Well worth the time and at a very reasonable cost. I totally recommend the trip.

Great private tour with Benson. Prompt pickup from Keelung cruise terminal. Saw all the major sites for Taiwan. Benson suggested a small change in the shopping area that we visited and it suited us better than the original one recommended. We were also able to add a short stop at a speciality bakery in the itinerary. Would definitely recommend Benson again.

Jeremy is great!

Our day with Jeremy touring northeast Taiwan was probably our favorite day during our weeklong vacation. We were a small group so switched from Mercedes van to minivan but the minivan was nice and clean. Jeremy was right on time. He was so kind and took amazing photos of our family. He also knew all the secret spots to get amazing photos and he showed us less touristy breathtaking views. He answered all our questions and shared a lot of fun anecdotes about life in Taiwan. We felt like we got a better understanding of the country’s history and also of the people. He had a special snack for us that Taiwanese people use as a good luck charm for electronics. I know it sounds crazy! But so fascinating to learn. Jeremy made our tour in very busy spots a lot easier. He would walk us to the best spots, park or drop us off to reduce unnecessary walking. He just made it an easy and pleasurable day despite some traffic and some rain. Our family, including two kids, were entertained, educated and also felt relaxed. Jeremy was also flexible should we want to stay longer somewhere. Overall, a great guy and a wonderful tour. Thanks Jeremy and for all our beautiful family pics! Our tour guide Vincent...

Our tour guide Vincent was awesome! He was genuinely friendly and quickly made friends with our kids, making sure they were engaged and having a good time. He catered the trip to our interests, never rushing us off to the next spot just for the sake of checking off a list. Like coffee? Ok, there's a place you have to try. Need more time shopping? No problem, take your time. Vincent knows Taiwan like the back of his hand, but he shared his knowledge in a way that made it fun and engaging. We couldn't have asked for a better time in Yehliu and Jiufen. Make sure to ask for Vincent!

Jiufen is definitely worth a visit if you are in Taipei and have an extra day.

Indeed a full day’s worth of activities, suitable for both adults and kids. Leo was thoughtful helping to watch out for my little girl and even surprising us with buying a famous local dessert while we were having dinner (it would otherwise have been a little too far away to pop in to with my girl in tow).

After exiting baggage claim, my private driver was at the designated area for passenger pick up service. He had a board up with my name written on it. I approached him. We greeted and he led me outside to a designated place to wait while he went to get his car. His vehicle was a clean comfortable minivan. He loaded my 2 luggage and we headed to my hotel. He gave me a bottle of water as I was seated. As we were riding along, he pointed out areas we were passing and made suggestions of places to visit in accordance to my interests, as well as places to eat, night markets info, etc. When we arrived at my hotel, he unloaded my bags and gave me a Taipei map of undiscovered places, in English and the native language guide, and a guide to Muslim friendly travel. I was very pleased with my experience with this company and my private driver.

The Beitou Hot Springs and Yangmingshan tour was a perfect blend of relaxation and nature. Soaking in the hot springs was incredibly soothing, and the views at Yangmingshan were breathtaking. A truly amazing and fun experience. The entrance was a little confusing to find if you are very familiar with the area. The restaurant workers next door were able to point me in the right direction! We had the most incredible day exploring Taiwan with our tour guide, Oliver. He took us to Jiufen, Shifen Waterfall, the Golden Waterfall, the Yehliu Geopark, and even made a special stop for us to light a lantern and make wishes—plus several other thoughtful stops along the way. His timing was *perfect*; we always arrived just before the big bus tours, which made every experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Oliver was not only knowledgeable—sharing fascinating history and stories about Taiwan—but also genuinely personable and so easy to chat with. By the end of the tour, it felt like we had made a new friend. I can’t recommend this tour enough. Skip the crowded big bus options and book this tour instead. You’ll get a much more intimate, meaningful, and memorable experience. Highly recommended!
