Limited time in places.
Time at the volcano itself wasn’t long enough unfortunately, 50 minutes. Not enough time to walk into the volcano or read anything on the information boards regarding it and take photos. However plenty of time in the village for lunch and a scroll. Guide was amazing and knowledgeable about the island and the volcano.

Well organised day out
Final details were confirmed via WhatsApp on the day before the trip. All arrangements went like clockwork- we were picked up on time, taken to the boat, guided while we needed to be and then deposited back at our hotel later. The visit to the volcano wasn't very long but it doesn't take very long to see. Perhaps it would have benefitted from an extra 15 mins to have a drink and visit the toilet. Free time in the town was a bit long. We were taken to a restaurant and could choose to stay there and eat - food was average but the shade was welcome. Had a wander around the streets and shops and chose not to walk to the monastery which might have killed more time. Overall we had a great day and would recommend the trip.

A super day out :)
A bit of a long day for the kids with the travel to and from Nisyros, especially with the heat but all in all a fun and very interesting day out! You don’t get very long at the crater (45mins) but Mandraki town is a delight, make sure you walk all the way to the monestary end. Helpful tour guides :)

All round great trip....
All round great trip. Picked up on time and taken to the boat, which wasn’t too busy and plenty of space to sit down. Our guide, Martha, was great - really knowledgeable and made the day really interesting. Plenty of time at the volcano and in the town and the recommended restaurant for lunch was lovely - the gyros and souvlaki were amazing. Last trip of the season so we were treated to fireworks and flares as we left the harbour to come back!!

Nisyros Volcano (Nisiros)
  • With its lack of beaches, Nisyros is refreshingly free of holiday crowds and the perfect island for those who want to experience a quieter side of the Aegean.
  • Pack a swimsuit and towel if you are planning on soaking in the island’s hot springs; some hot springs offer full-service spas and others are DIY open-air pools.
  • For hiking excursions to the volcanic caldera or inland chapels, wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes; don't forget a hat, sunblock, and plenty of water to guard against the Mediterranean heat.
  • Public ferries are accessible to wheelchairs, but not all private boat tours are. Travelers with limited mobility should confirm accessibility before booking.
