While there are no admission tickets required to visit the Remarkable Rocks themselves, the rock formations lie within the Flinders Chase National Park, and you’ll need a park pass to enter. One-day entry costs AU$14.90 per adult and US$8.70 per child (4–15 years), plus kids under 4 visit for free.

There’s no public transport on Kangaroo Island, so you’ll need a car or to join a tour to visit the Remarkable Rocks. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from Penneshaw or a 1-hour drive from Kingscote to Flinders Chase National Park, followed by a 25-minute drive to the Remarkable Rocks parking area.

Most visitors spend up to an hour at the Remarkable Rocks. From the parking area, it’s about a 0.5 mile (1-kilometer) walk) to the rocks—less than 10 minutes each way. When you arrive at the site, spend as long as you like exploring the rocks up close and taking photos.

For the best views and photo opportunities, choose a time when the sky is clear and the sun is lower in the sky. Early morning is a great time to avoid the crowds, as tour buses won’t start arriving until after 10am, but it’s hard to beat the sunset views.

Your visit to the Remarkable Rocks starts with a scenic walk along a purpose-built boardwalk which takes you to a rocky outcrop overlooking the ocean. There, you can leave the boardwalk to explore about a dozen naturally eroded rock formations of all shapes and sizes.
