Top Bergen Walking Tours

Our driver was exceptional. He was on time, courteous and helpful. At one point I felt he was going to fast and politely asked that he slow down, he did so immediately and graciously. Pointed out interesting things on what could have been just a boring ride to the airport!

This was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Rigmor, gave us a historic culinary adventure through the streets of Bergen. The food was interesting and very good. Rigs, thank you for this great tour and for sharing your love and knowledge about Norway, Bergen and the food.

We took this tour the day we arrived in Bergen. Our tour guide, Don, was wonderful. He gave us a good overview of Bergen’s history, culture, layout and notable spots. We enjoyed it so much we added on the ferry ride which took place immediately after the walking tour. He also recommended some additional areas to walk which we did the next day. Great introduction to Bergen!

We had a beautiful, incredible, sunny day on this tour with Vlad. We toured the Hardanger Fjoyd, waterfalls, and pretty villages along the way. Our stop at a homestead for lunch with the charming owner was very special. Vlad was very informative about the places we visited and a super nice man. We had an enjoyable day. Thank you so much! The tour was great. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The pace was good as we explored the area around the city center. It was a good opportunity to taste Norwegian food. But best of all, she did a great job of telling the history of the city. Lots of great stories. The restaurants/bars we went to were off the beaten track. It was a nice walk through the streets above the harbor. Nice, nice people in tge group!

My husband and I chose a private tour because he tends to get motion sickness on busses and we wanted to avoid large crowds. This was perfect! Our guide, Tim, was so knowledgeable and pleasant. We enjoyed waterfalls, a small town, and short fjord cruise with no large crowds! Lunch at the nature center was excellent.

Our tour with Sami was wonderful! The tour route took us through a variety of beautiful areas. Sami provided a lot of information on the history of the Bergen area and lifestyle of Norwegians in a humorous and detailed presentation. One of the best tours of our trip!

We boarded "Eric the Red" ship at Strandkaien 16 exactly at exactly 10 o'clock, although an employee had earlier mistakenly directed us to a ship across the harbor for a fjord cruise without checking that we had tickets for the three-in-one tour. Upon our return to Strandkaien 16, John, our tour guide, welcomed us aboard and we joined the other 4 members of his tour group at a table at the front of the ship. As the ship departed on time, John prompted us to introduce ourselves, where we were from and what we did for work (or in retirement), which put us all at ease. We spent the next several hours learning about Bergen and daily life in Norway. John kept us engaged with the history of Norway, the people and life on the sea, and daily life today in Bergen. He carefully avoided overloading us with excessive detail and kept the conversation flowing fluently and smoothly. Once the ship slowed in the narrow fjords, we hopped onto the upper deck to capture some "Kodak" moments and more stories of the life in the fjords. The time passed very quickly and before we knew it, we were back at the wharf and off-loading. We passed through the fish-market and onto the Bergenhus fortress which we toured as he regaled us with the colorful history starting in the pre-10th C, to the ship explosion in 1942 that blew its anchor to the top of the mountain and finally to today's royal family. We meandered the Hanseatic buildings on the wharf learning about the foundations weakened by the water and efforts to shore them up. From there we walked to the funicular and up to Floyen for a panoramic view of Bergen and the harbour. Fortunately, we had blue skies and little wind to appreciate the views from atop the mountain. Thank you to John for a very informative and delightful tour. I think it's safe to say that every one of us had a great day and a very enjoyable tour.
