We loved the whole experience. The captain was super nice & full of stories, the wine was flowing, the snacks were delicious. We were with a group of friendly people. The boat was comfortable. Amsterdam was amazing to see this way & going in the evening made it even more special.

Was a small group so we had about 14 total on the boat. It was covered in canvas with zip open windows so when it rained we were dry. Had good snacks and drinks. Flip was a young but gracious captain and host. When we got to the area around our house he went ahead and let us jump off so our walk home was short. Good trip.

This small group canal cruise was a highlight of my trip. Captain Storm was a fantastic host and captain, with a dry sense of humor that made the experience even more fun. He shared great Dutch history and interesting facts along the way, and did an excellent job creating a relaxed, friendly vibe with the group. I did the sunset cruise and highly recommend it. Watching the sun set over the canals and the city was absolutely beautiful. The drinks and snacks were a perfect touch. Definitely worth booking.

Captain Storm was knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. We loved that it was a small group (14 people). Snacks & beverages were good & just enough. It was a beautiful canal cruise in a beautiful city!

    Highly recommend!

Relaxing and fun canal tour with Captain Storm. The Captain was entertaining and fun and highlighted lots of great sights during our tour. The boat was clean and comfortable. The snacks and drinks were perfect for a warm late afternoon.

Beautiful scenery - could have done without the commentary!

    Sophie_D, May 2026
The cruise through the canals was beautiful, the drinks and snacks were good unfortunately the commentary wasn’t great. We were expecting information about the places we were passing and about Amsterdam in general. What we got was a lot of talk about the captain and his family - to be honest we really don’t care about his kids and how well they are doing at school/university. Most of the participants were American and he talked mainly to them, especially the young girls. So - did we love cruising around the canals - yes! Did we enjoy the commentary - definitely no!

What an amazing afternoon spent with Captain Charlie. We learned so much from Captain Charlie, it was a beautiful boat, amazing bar and food set up and such great sightseeing. Bonus was we also met some super awesome people who were also on the cruise. We loved that it was a smaller cruise and and open aired. Highly recommend this cruise for all the reasons! Totally a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam.

Disappointed - Don’t waste your money

    Kelly_c, May 2026
Our cruise started with Stephanie, the captain, not being able to dock the boat for departure. A gentleman on the opposite side of the canal saw the problem, jumped on his bike and came to help. The boat was well stocked with wine, beer & soda. However, we learned nothing about Amsterdam canals. She was not prepared to give a sunset “tour”. We simply took a boat ride. No info, no sunset. She tried to go through a tunnel and hit the bar that is used to be sure a boat can clear the height of the tunnel. That bar broke the frame that holds up the roof. She still said we could make it. We clearly could not, which meant we had to go back under the bar. The ceiling bar hit a passenger in the face. Another passenger fixed it temporarily with toothpicks. At one point Stephanie was lost. This was our 1st trip to Amsterdam and we were so disappointed with our choice of canal cruise. We’ve used Viator in several other places and all were great. This was not one of them.

    Memorable day on the canals

    Sheri_S, May 2026
We learned more in two hours about the culture, the people, governmental structure, the history of the Netherlands and Amsterdam in particular than I have thus far in my life! Simply fantastic! Five stars, nice boat, lovely edibles and drinks! Special thanks to Stephen!

    Captain Eric is awesome!

    Richard_D, May 2026
Captain Eric was our navigator and host and narrator. It was an awesome tour, very insightful. We loved the personal stories from Captain Eric.

    Excellent small group tour

    Dana_H, May 2026
Great tour! Saw 3 top attractions: Zaanse Schans with historic windmills, cheese making, wooden shoe making; Lego Village in Zaandam - nothing to do with "Lego's" is a life size structure that looks like a puzzle box, very interesting architecture; and Giethorn - a small canal town with countryside appeal. Ate lunch in Giethorn at a Chinese restaurant that was pretty good, especially the hot tea to warm up from the chilly weather. Was a windy and damp day with occasional rain showers. Our tour guide, Simon, was very knowledgeable and personable. The small group size of 8 was way better than a big bus tour.

    Intimate meeting with Amsterdam history

Great time with Captain Eric who shared his deep knowledge of Amsterdam history. I loved he share his own family history which is intertwined with this charming city.

    Girls bucket trip

    Kirsten_K, May 2026
I could not recommend this tour more! Amsterdam is beautiful and the best way to see it is in a small, calm setting with some drinks and Dutch snacks. My adult children enjoyed it very much as well. The guide “Jim” was excellent. We learned a lot and also had lots of time to ask questions and have conversation. You see more on this tour due to the extended time allotment.

Our 5 o'clock canal tour was canceled. Other same days options were offered, but we had other scheduled same day tours so could not participate & missed the experience.

    Don’t miss this cruise!

Truly an incredible way to see Amsterdam — cruising along the many canals was very relaxing, and Captain Charley told us about the interesting history of the area.

Cruise the Amsterdam Canals with Captain Storm

    KAREN_H, May 2026
We recently had the pleasure of cruising the canals of Amsterdam with Captain Storm. He was informative and hospitable. We enjoyed beer, wine, cheese, crackers, grapes, etc. He also provided fresh, hot better balls. This cruise was 2 hours and the time flew by. We highly recommend this cruise!

Amsterdam canal tour with Captain Charlie is a must!

A Tour about Capt. Stormy’s Life

    Richard_B, May 2026
This tour was not about the canals and history of Amsterdam. It was all about Capt. Stormy and his family. His 2 wives and their children. And all of their personal family issues and details. Too many details. We learned about all of his life’s achievements. He loved to Toot his Own Horn continuously. The only time he stopped talking about himself or his family was when someone would ask a question about something they saw along the way.. At that point he would stop his self bio briefly to answer and then he was right back to his favorite subject…. his life. He rarely voluntarily narrated facts about the city, or provided us with details. Mostly when asked. We were hoping to gain some insight into the history of the city mixed with some useful local knowledge. We got very little. 80% of this tour was about Capt Stormy and his family. We were over it 30 minutes in. We couldn’t wait to get back to the dock. Unfortunately it was a 2 hour tour. He went as far as showing us his “special place” where he wanted his ashes thrown when he passes! Way too much personal info for us. Another turn off was the first “F”- bomb being thrown as we were starting to depart the dock at the beginning of the tour. Now don’t get me wrong. We always want to be-friend our guides and get to know a little about them. This thing with him was just overpowering. We tour a lot. Worldwide. Never have we experienced anything like this. Most all guides are professionals who are proud to share their knowledge with you so you can learn about their country. Now the good.. Capt. Stormy has a nice well maintained boat. He provided us with a variety of wine, cheese, etc. He handled his boat well, as did every other Captain we saw on the canals. We just wished we would have departed Capt Stormy’s boat with a vast array of knowledge about Amsterdam.

Amazing experience, good food & beverages! Jim was awesome. Learned so much about the area. Would recommend it.

    Fun Times

    Carmen_M, May 2026
Our canal cruise was absolutely delightful! We enjoyed experiencing both the history and cuisine of Amsterdam while taking in the beautiful canals. A special highlight was having a female captain — she was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and so much fun. Her stories and energy made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommend this cruise to anyone visiting Amsterdam

    Captain Erik!
