Top Trapani How to Get Around

The crystal-clear seas off western Sicily are home to the idyllic Aegadian islands of Favignana and Levanzo, but their isolated location makes them hard to reach. On this tour, cruise through the coastal waters in a small boat and drop the anchor at locations not accessible to larger boats. Learn of historic battles between the Romans and Carthaginians with on-board commentary from your guide, with free time to snorkel at your leisure.

Some of the Aegadian Islands’ most beautiful sights can only be seen from the water. Experience them in high style on this small-group cruise by speedy but elegant rigid inflatable boat (RIB), direct from Trapani. As well as swim stops, enjoy breaks on both Favignana and Levanzo, with snacks, fruit, and drinks on board to keep the party spirit flowing. Snorkeling gear lets you appreciate the caves and coves even more.

Trapani’s coast—home to must-see sights such as Zingaro Reserve and the seaside village of San Vito Lo Capo—is best explored by boat. But larger vessels aren’t permitted to stop on beaches, meaning you mostly admire the coastal landscapes without stopping. Designed for a more immersive experience, this full-day tour by rubber dinghy gives you greater flexibility, letting you stop to swim or snorkel in all the main coves.

Trade Sicily's mainland for an island-hopping adventure, and leave the planning to someone else, on this full-day getaway to the Egadi Islands. After boarding your boat in the morning, set off for Favignana, home to sandy beaches, sea caves, and idyllic snorkeling spots. Pause to savor an aperitif and lunch on board; then, continue to Levanzo, which boasts hidden beaches, dramatic cliffs, and other postcard-worthy scenery.

Large boat trips can feel crowded and don't work well for a relaxed day on the water. On this small-group cruise, sail from Trapani to the Egadi Islands, visiting Favignana and Levanzo in a single day. Swim near secluded coves, snorkel among the vibrant marine life, and hop off in Favignana village for some free time to explore. Refuel with seasonal fruit and white wine from on board.

Western Sicily has attractions of the caliber of those on the eastern coast, but they are often less accessible by public transportation. Instead of renting a car and dealing with the hassle of driving in Italy, let someone else take you to Segesta and Selinunte—two of Sicily’s less-known, but no less beautiful archeological ruins located nearly on separate coasts, and roughly an hour apart by car.

Relax in the sun with this excursion to two of the most beautiful spots in all of Sicily. Travel just over an hour to the Zingaro Reserve and enjoy stunning views of white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and dramatic cliffs and caves.
