Q: How much does it cost to visit Trunk Bay in 2026?

Trunk Bay is part of the Virgin Islands National Park, though no national park entrance pass is required to visit. Visitors aged 16 and up are required to pay an expanded amenity fee of US$5 per person. The cost is discounted to US$2.50 for holders of the Interagency Senior Pass or Interagency Access Pass. Mooring fees also apply.

Yes, you can snorkel at Trunk Bay. You can bring your own gear or rent it from vendors on site. There’s a 650-foot underwater snorkeling trail around the small cay just offshore that's popular with visitors. You'll also find a reef on the western edge of the bay that's typically less busy and more protected from waves.

Q: How do you get to Trunk Bay?

Trunk Bay is located on St. John, about three miles from Cruz Bay, where the ferries drop off visitors from St. Thomas. If you are coming from Cruz Bay, the best way to get to Trunk Bay is by cab. Parking is also available, though it can get busy. Some visitors choose to come to Trunk Bay by boat on a snorkeling excursion.

Nice experience with beach being the highlight

Plan on staying at a beach for a large part of your drive through the national park. Visitor center is very austere and sites are very similar. Beaches are beautiful and water is crystal clear, shallow for some distance from the beach and very refreshing. Find a place with shade if you are not a sun seeker. Maho Bay was very nice and easily accessed.

Great tour and beach time.

This tour is a combination of history of St. John and as it relates to the other islands in USVI and BVSI, and a 2 hour drop off at Trunk Bay to snorkel, swim and just chill. We also stopped to see the Annabelle Plantation Ruins and a few other historical stops. It was very good. Lasted about 5 hours long including the 2 hours at the beach.

I came from St Thomas so I was really hoping to see more of the island. Kenneth did a great job of giving us history and details about the areas we were passing. The plantation spot was not as exciting as I was expecting. Trunk Bay was cool even with the rain but also felt rushed. You should separate cruise people from land tourists. He did give me the option to stay but the rain helped me make my decision to leave with the group. I also wish you guys had a partner in St. Thomas, that would include transportation from our hotel to red Hook rather than a taxi.
