Two day tour Zhangjiajie
Vicky was an amazing tour guide and took me around to see all the highlights. She suggested we leave earlier than usual and I am glad she did because it was very busy. We were able to see everything before the lines got long. I recommend this tour to anyone who is short on time but still wants to see everything.

Zhangjiajie Mountains (aka: Avatar Mountains)
This place is magical but get ready to walk…A LOT! Get a guide! It can be very difficult to navigating the different buses that you you need to take, especially if you don’t speak Chinese. Avoid national holidays and the summer months as the lines can become unbearable (several hours long). Best times of year to visit are spring and fall. Although avoid the national holiday week in early October. Lastly, definitely get a guide. We booked the 2 day tour and our guide, Bingle was exceptional!

Tianmen mountain evening tour
Rose was an excellent guide, and the tour was well set-up in terms of logistics/tickets/etc. - we didn’t have to wait in any lines and were able to see all the sights in the right amount of time.

Best tour!!!
Our tour to Tianmen Mountain (the famous “Doorway to Heaven”) and the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge was absolutely incredible!
Kaia was an amazing guide — so organized, friendly, and fun to be around. She made everything smooth and stress-free while making sure we hit the best spots for views and photos. At the canyon, we did the zipline and the slide, which were SO much fun and such a thrill!
Kaia truly made the day special with her energy and attention to detail. Highly recommend this tour — and definitely ask for Kaia!

Must Do Tour in China!
Our tour guide Lillian was phenomenal. She helped customize our trip to maximize the fun and adventure. 2 days was the perfect amount of time to squeeze in the best activities. My only complaint would be that the tour company should include the ticket fees up front, like the other tours.

One of the best tours in China!
Our recent tour in Zhangjiajie with Eric Denny's arrangement was absolutely fantastic with the great service from start to finish! Both Eric and Murphy were friendly, knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. Plus, the itinerary was perfectly paced, allowing us to fully experience the breathtaking scenery of Avatar Mountains and Tianmen Mountain without feeling rushed. We cannot emphasize how enjoyable this tour was and would definitely recommend this two-day tour for anyone wanting to explore the beauty of Zhangjiajie! If I can give this your more than five stars… I would!
I also want to add that Eric was so kind and thoughtful that he even took awesome pictures of us and shared them all in a video… a definite plus that we are SÚPER thankful for and that demonstrates how kind and hospitable he is! Thank you!!!

Highly Recommend for a ZhangJiaJie Visit
My husband and I greatly enjoyed our tour with Sunny! It was extremely helpful for Sunny to navigate us around the different paths of the mountain, the area is massive and we would certainly have missed key viewpoints without her. She also shared a lot modern and historical facts. Highly recommend booking this tour when visiting ZhangJiaJie!

I had an absolutely wonderful time exploring the Tienman Mountain with my guide, Wendy. She was incredibly professional, pleasant, and very knowledgeable about every part of the tour.
Wendy went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of throughout the day. Her kind attitude, patience, and attention to every detail made the entire experience truly enjoyable. I felt completely at ease knowing I was in such capable hands.

We had a great time going...
We had a great time going to Tianmen mountain and 72 wonders building with our guide, Zoey! We were picked up promptly from our hotel and then took a cable car up to Tianmen mountain. The views were stunning and Zoey helped us take some amazing pictures. This tour was great because nothing in the itinerary was rushed. We stopped for coffee before going to the mountain and also went to a great hotpot restaurant at the recommendation of our guide. She helped us order off the menu and made sure everything was a seamless experience. We had a great time!

People Also Ask
How long does it take to climb Tianmen Mountain?
The most common climb on Tianmen Mountain is not from the base to the summit. It’s the ascent from Cave Square to the mountain’s towering “Heaven’s Door” keyhole cave. Fit travelers take about 30 minutes to complete this climb via 999 steps that locals call the Stairway to Heaven.
How high is the Tianmen Skywalk?
The main Tianmen Skywalk, known as the Coiling Dragon Cliff, is suspended about 4,600 feet (1,400 meters) above sea level. The sheer vertical drop below the 100-meter-long (110-yard-long) skywalk, however, while terrifying, is much smaller: The entire mountain is less than 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) high.
What is the best day to visit Tianmen Mountain?
Tianmen Mountain is a hugely popular attraction, so you should plan your visit outside weekends: Tuesdays and Wednesdays are good days. Be careful to avoid China’s Golden Week holidays at the start of May and October as both draw domestic tourists to Zhangjiajie and Tianmen Mountain.
Is Tianmen Mountain worth it?
Yes, if you have time, Tianmen Mountain is definitely worth it, particularly if heights fill you with thrills, not fear. If you only have a day or two to explore all of Zhangjiajie, you may choose to focus on Zhangjiajie National Forest Park instead.
Can you drive on Tianmen Mountain?
No, you can’t drive on Tianmen Mountain. Tempting as the dramatic and winding 99 Bends road is, it’s closed to everything but official tour buses. The road has, however, hosted special events, including cycle races, a Red Bull “drift king” race, and a racing driver’s world record attempt.
Is Tianmen Mountain dangerous?
No, Tianmen Mountain is not dangerous. There have been no accidental deaths on the skywalks, and the cable car has a 100% safety record, although a cyclist did die in a race on the 99 Bends road. Travelers with cardiovascular issues should not try to climb the Stairway to Heaven.
