The Cave That Got Me 🤣

The Green Tour in Cappadocia was one of those experiences where I expected to see some beautiful places and learn a little history… …and then a cave got me. 😂 Not because I was afraid of it. Actually, the cave ended up being my favorite part. There was something about walking through those underground passages and noticing the uneven flooring that stopped me in my tracks. Those weren’t simply imperfections in the stone. They were the result of people who had walked there before me. People had traveled those same paths so many times that their footsteps had literally changed the ground beneath them. And suddenly I wasn’t just looking at history. I was walking in it. There was something incredibly humbling about realizing that my feet were touching the same earth that countless people had walked across hundreds, even thousands, of years ago. It made me think about how we all leave something behind simply by walking our path. Sometimes we don’t realize we’re making an impression. We just keep moving. One step. Then another. And eventually, someone else comes along and walks the path we helped create. Yep. The cave got me. 😂❤️ And that’s one of the things I’m learning to love about traveling—not just seeing beautiful places, but allowing them to make me think about something bigger than the place itself. The Green Tour definitely did that for me. Now go experience it for yourself.

Dispatch told us the evening before when to expect a pickup (it was 11:30-11:40am for a 1:35 flight - I thought that was cutting it close - it wasn’t. We had lots of time), van was prompt at 11:32am. Driver even helped us with bags (our pickup from the airport with a different country didn’t even pretend to help), driver was speedy but amazing.

Nevşehir to Uchisar minibus

Driver was waiting for us at the airport. As we were first on board, we did then have to wait around half a hour for the rest of the passengers to show up at arrivals. Our hotel was the penultimate drop off so we spent over 90 minutes sat on the minibus. However, the driver was extremely skilful at navigating the steep and narrow streets of Goreme. So, although it took quite a while, it was a very reasonable price and we got to experience a rollercoaster-like but a safe ride from Nevsehir airport to Uchisar.

An absolutely wonderful...

An absolutely wonderful must do! While the tour goes up in a different valley, the experience was still extremely enjoyable & felt just as magical. In fact, the day we went up the balloons over Goreme couldn’t due to weather constraints. The breakfast was tasty & the champagne at the end was a very nice touch.
