Go beyond the city lights on a true aurora-hunting adventure along Yellowknife’s scenic Ingraham Trail. Rather than waiting at one fixed location, we travel between promising dark-sky viewing areas based on the night’s weather, cloud cover and aurora activity. When the official ice roads are open and conditions are safe, we may even venture onto frozen lakes for breathtaking, wide-open views of the northern sky. Stay warm between viewing stops in a heated 16- or 24-passenger bus while enjoying hot chocolate, maple cookies and chips. With convenient pickup and drop-off from selected Yellowknife accommodations, local guidance and a flexible route, this is a comfortable and memorable way to experience the magic of the North. The locations visited depend on cloud cover, weather, road conditions, aurora activity and the guide’s judgment. Aurora sightings and ice-road access cannot be guaranteed.

Two world renowned taxidermist and artist brothers, Greg and Dean Robertson, have come together to create a northern wildlife experience like no other. Many displays will tell you a story, bring out an emotion, capture a moment in time, show their playful side, or just leave you in awe of their natural beauty. Prepare to get up close and personal and experience the North’s creatures like you never have before. We will leave you with knowledge about northern animals in their natural habitat and memories you can share with family and friends.

The Aurora Borealis ignites when charged solar particles dance with Earth’s upper atmosphere. Depending on which atmospheric layer is "excited," the colors shift—most commonly manifesting as an eerie, breathtaking green glow caused by oxygen atoms colliding 120km above us. In the heart of the Northwest Territories, the Aurora graces the skies an average of 240 nights a year. That means you can witness this celestial spectacle nearly every single night from late summer through early spring! Please note: While there is a 95% chance of spotting the lights under clear skies, the Aurora is a natural phenomenon. Because weather and solar activity are beyond our control, sightings cannot be guaranteed. Premium hotel upgrades to the Chateau Nova or The Explorer may be available. Contact us today to secure your dream Arctic getaway!

1. Higher Success Rate with Flexible Routing With fewer guests (typically 4–15 people), small group tours allow guides to make quick route adjustments based on real-time weather and aurora forecasts. You’ll have a better chance of escaping cloudy skies and catching the Northern Lights. 2. Better Photography Support Your guide will have more time to help each guest with aurora photography, including camera settings, framing, and even taking portraits under the aurora. Some tours provide tripods and optional photo packages. 3. More Comfort, Less Crowding Smaller groups mean more space per guest in the vehicle, a quieter viewing experience, and less waiting around. You can relax, stay warm, and fully enjoy the peaceful Arctic night.

Join us on a tour to look for the largest land mammals in North America - the Wood Bison! NWT is home to North America's largest free roaming herd of wood bison - and from Yellowknife we can take a day tour to look for them. How big are wood bison? The bison bulls can stand up to 6ft tall at their shoulders, 13ft long, and can weigh more than a tonne. Females are smaller and can weigh up to 1,200 pounds. Will we see any baby bison? It is common to see newborn and growing calves among the herds. Could we see other animals too? Hopefully. We have previously spotted black bear, eagles, fox, porcupines. Where do we travel? We travel on highway 3 south, near the world's 10th largest lake - Great Slave Lake, and share facts and stories about the area. Is food provided? A light picnic lunch is provided with a snack and beverage. Animal sightings can not be guaranteed. We have a 4 person minimum for this tour to take place, however we will try our best to arrange groups.
