Normandy to Rouen

Delve into Normandy’s medieval history with a private tour from Bayeux. Your first stop is Rouen, once one of France's greatest port towns. Marvel at its exquisite Gothic cathedral, take a guided tour of its restored medieval quarter and visit Market Square, the site of Joan of Arc's execution. Next, depart for Giverny, a charming country village where Impressionist painter Claude Monet lived and worked. Explore his house and gardens or spend a couple hours at the Giverny Museum of Impressionisms. This day trip is customizable to fit your interests.

Embark on a historical and cultural tour of Normandy on a day trip from Caen. An experienced guide accompanies you on this private day-long tour, which includes visits to both Rouen and Giverny. In Rouen you'll see the famous square where Joan of Arc was executed, and marvel at Rouen Cathedral's towering spire—the highest in France. In Giverny tour the former home and gardens of artist Claude Monet (own expense), where you can practically see his paintings come to life. This tour can be customized to suit your needs.

Explore all of Normandy’s star attractions in one day on this private tour from Rouen. Enjoy the undivided attention of your private guide as you stroll around Rouen's Old Town, admire the grand Cathedral and see the spot where Joan of Arc was killed. After lunch (own expense), continue to Caen, where highlights include the Abbaye aux Hommes and William the Conqueror’s Castle. Finally, visit the famous Bayeux tapestry and take a tour of the magnificent Château de Falaise.

Visit historic Rouen on your full-day tour, discovering the gothic cathedral, fine art gallery, and the tower where Joan of Arc was imprisoned in the 13th century. Rouen is Normandy’s capital, famously called the ‘city of a hundred bells’ by Victor Hugo for the huge number of bell towers scattered throughout the city. Private, return transfers from Le Havre are included, entrance fees and lunch are not.

Rouen and Giverny are connected by the Seine — and by one of the great stories of French art. Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in Rouen in 1431. Claude Monet walked into his garden at Giverny in 1883 and never really left, painting it obsessively for 43 years. This private tour from Le Havre connects both places and both stories in a single bucket list day. In Rouen, your guide walks you through the Gothic cathedral Monet painted 30 times and the square where Joan of Arc died. In Giverny, you step inside the painting — the lily pond, the Japanese bridge, the weeping willows. Your private vehicle travels exclusively for your group, with pickup from Le Havre, Honfleur or Cherbourg and your return guaranteed. Available April through October only.
