Top Timisoara Day Trips

Conveniently travel from Timisoara to two fascinating attractions in Transylvania, Corvin Castle and the Turda Salt Mine, with this private full-day tour. Then the UNESCO monument, the fortified church of Calnic will be visited. The last activity will be the walking tour in Sibiu downtown, former european cultural capital in 2007, where the fortress walls will be admired, together with some citadel towers, bastions, and the medieval buildings from the three main squares of Sibiu: Piata Mare, Piata Mica and Piata Huet. Main visits: the Catholic Cathedral Saint Trinity, the Evangelic Cathedral, the Orthodox Cathedral, Turnul Sfatului, the City Hall. Then return to Timisoara and drop off to the hotel of the participants.

Retezat Mountains are one of the most beautiful mountains of Romania. Vast of it's territory was included in 1935 in the first National Park established in Romania. From this reason in the past 80 years nature was well preserved. Retezat mountains are home of 100 lakes out of which 60 are permanent, also home of wild animals (bears, wolfs, chamois) and may protected wild flowers including orchids. One day tours starting from Timisoara is something that can be easily done in summer. For winter I recomend to plan a 2 day tour. Also longer tours can be organized.

We drive across the border to Romania and we arrive in Timisoara in about 3 hours. We start the chronological tour of this beautiful city. The city's history has a bit of everything: Hungarian Kingdom, Ottoman Empire, Habsburg Empire, Romanian Kingdom and Communism. After a 2hour city your of the historical center, we'll stop for a traditional Romanian lunch. Drive back to Szeged at the end of a beautiful day.
