So much fun, very nice...

So much fun, very nice and kind coaches. Went with a local and they helped us out with some favors we needed and let my partner surf extra time. Our coaches were roughly 15 minutes late (normal as someone’s who’s been to CR 3 times). Other locals hang around the spot where our meet point was, and tried to have us request a refund through Viator, and pay them directly with cash instead. So be careful of that, and give your coaches a good 20 minutes of grace time (they will make up for it). You can get the pro photos from local photographers for $30 (roughly 15,000 colones).

Estuary tour is amazing!

This was a very cool tour with the best guide ever! Ivan is super friendly, fun, very knowledgeable about the area and throws in lots of good humor to boot. You won't be disappointed! Saw lots of wildlife granted its all luck of the draw with mother nature. Ivan has a good eye so im sure you'll see plenty. Cheers!

Excellent beginner surf lesson!

Mario and Julia at A New Day Surf School on Tamarindo Beach run a top notch beginner friendly lesson. Julia coaches the basics on the beach, with plenty of time for your group to practice before getting in the water. Julia took photos and video while we surfed. She will also stay with your personal belongings while you’re in the water, so no need to leave anything unattended. Mario is a Master! He gave each of our three family members abundant individual time, and had all of standing after just a few tries! His coaching style is consistent, patient, and positive, and his ability to read the water and find us the right waves I believe contributed to our success. Don’t sleep on this small, family-run surf school. The instruction and experience can’t be beat!

Rode on the first try!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our private surf lesson! The instruction was excellent, and we were both able to ride a wave on our very first try because of the great coaching. The instructors were patient, encouraging, and made the experience so much fun. They also provided free lockers, which was a great added bonus. Highly recommend!

Great surf lessons for our family of four

They are excellent teachers, very patient, articulate, enthusiastic and motivational. We all were surfing within 30 minutes. Really enjoyed it. We were a family of four, with two teenage boys, and they all loved it. We booked for two days and got alot of sitting done. They kept adjusting it as we progressed which was nice. Highly recommended. Jayden and Isaac were our surf instructors. The best.

Kevin and Kristian we're very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable guides who made the tour fun and interesting. It was very well organized, the guide in the sloth sanctuary was very good and discovered lots of animals which he helped us photograph through the binoculars. The lunch location was well selected, the food delicious. Highly recommended!

Private surf lesson with massage

We had the best time with Blue Wave Surf tours in Tamarindo. We had a two hour private lesson with Johnny and Edgar and it was just the highlight of our trip. We were able to get up and ride the waves right away with their expertise. Very friendly, helpful and supportive, lovely gentlemen. We will most definitely book again when we return. At the end of the lesson we had a massage co-ordinated on the beach and it was just the best ending to a great morning. Highly recommend.

First surfing experience

Very nice activity, excellent for beginners. The waves are soft, but still allow for easy surfing. Our guide Ronaldo was very friendly and took the time to help all the members of the group (we were 4). Water bottles and rashguard sweaters provided. The beach is large and the water is beautiful, some rocks are to be watched in some places. Very nice way to maximize a visit to the city of Tamarindo!

Fun family activity with great guides

Loved our guide, Leo. Made our family of first-time rafters feel very safe and he was a super nice guy. We were there in December so the river wasn’t at its peak (ie, not as fast) but still very fun. We enjoyed the gorgeous scenery during the slower sections and we had a blast going over the bigger rapids sections. There’s a spot where several of the boats tipped over but the guide gives you the option of staying tucked into the boat or staying seated on the side (which makes your chances of falling out more likely). So it’s up to you. The lunch at the end was surprisingly delicious. Only downside is that the bus ride to/from launch site is a bit long and bumpy. Still worth it.
