Walking around this ancient city is like travelling through time, from antique-era Aspalathos to modern day Split. Split is situated on a peninsula and surrounded by historical towns and settlements. We shall take a walk through the 4th-century Diocletian's Palace and its ancient Cellars, the Peristyle, Roman temples (today Christian ones) – the Cathedral and the Baptistery, and then the famous Golden Gate. After a sightseeing tour of the town of Split and some free time for individual exploring, we start our bus ride towards Trogir. Trogir is a small town under the cultural protection of UNESCO, which arose from the ancient Tragurion and is full of buildings and monuments testifying to its rich history. There stands the Cathedral with its famous portal made by the well-known local master Radovan, the City Loggia from the 15th century, the Ćipiko palace, the Town Hall, and the Benedictine monastery from the year 1064, where a Greek relief is kept representing Kairos (the God of auspicious moment). After sightseeing, free time for lunch.

What sets this tour apart is the perfect balance between history and local life. Walk through the 4th-century Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a knowledgeable local guide who brings the ancient walls to life through stories, legends, and everyday details most visitors miss. Explore highlights such as the Palace Cellars, Peristyle, Golden and Silver Gates, the oldest cathedral in Europe (formerly Diocletian’s Mausoleum), and the Baptistery, once the Temple of Jupiter. Beyond the monuments, gain insight into how people still live and work inside the palace today. After the guided walk, enjoy free time to continue exploring at your own pace.

Walk through the heart of the old town and discover the area around Diocletian’s Palace, Peristyle, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, and the lively streets and squares that make Split one of the most fascinating cities on the Adriatic. After exploring Split, continue to Trogir, a beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its narrow stone streets, historic architecture, charming squares, and seaside promenade, Trogir offers a different but equally authentic Dalmatian atmosphere. Travel in a small private group for a more personal and comfortable experience. This tour is ideal for visitors who want to see both Split and Trogir in one half-day trip, whether they are staying in the city or visiting the region for a short time.

My tour gives first-time visitors an engaging, easy-to-follow introduction to Split's history, culture, and daily life. We visit key landmarks like the Peristyle, Jupiter’s Temple, Mausoleum, Cellars, Riva, and more. But this isn’t a boring history lesson; it’s a relaxed experience giving you real insights into Split’s past and present. As a guide originally from Bosnia who lived across the former Yugoslavia and the US, I offer a unique perspective. I connect Split's story to the wider Balkans and the world. I love diving deep, so ask me anything! We can talk all day. :) Want to know why we fight all the time in the Balkans? Let me tell you! Want to know why people in Split love Napoleon, but in Dubrovnik they wish you didn't ask? Or why Croatia is "selfishly" taking all the coastline? Maybe you want to learn different architectural styles? We’ll spot centuries of styles standing in one single spot. My small-group tours guarantee meaningful conversations. Great for history lovers!
