Nighttime Mount Sinai Climb
Bring the warmest clothes you own even for those experienced in cold weather. Double layer socks, 2 shirts, poncho or jacket, thermal pants. The hike is challenging and occurs in complete darkness but is absolutely safe. You will complete the hike with both a tour guide and a Bedouin guide (2 helpers). There are multiple shelters and stops on the way that serve food. It is a 3 hour hike for those in excellent shape with no stops for rest. Most rewarding hike of my life as a follower of Christ.

It was really tough, but the guides showed us the way and motivated us, so it was a wonderful experience!

A wonderful experience
Sallam is a seasoned professional who us clearly well known and respected by the Bedouin at the Mountain. He has an incredible knowledge of the area and is fluent in English and German. He arranged a guide for us, who was very experienced and thoughtful. A small group is better, if you can afford it because if there is a problem with someone then the impact is limited to your group. It’s not an easy walk and you need a certain degree of resilience more than fitness. There are plenty of opportunities to eat on the route and support the tribesmen economically. Take plenty if cash for tipping.

  • Mt. Sinai is a must-see for culture lovers and history buffs.

  • The hike to the summit can be strenuous; wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots.

  • Dress in layers if you plan to visit during sunrise or sunset, as it can be cold at the top of the mountain. It’s also possible to rent blankets at the summit.

  • Multiple huts sell refreshments along the mountain path, so it’s a good idea to bring some spending money.
