Great day!
It is a wonderful tour. The Chateaus and gardens are great. The tour of their family owned and dug wine caves at the first, smaller winery was fascinating. Our guide Dimitri was knowledgeable and personable, I highly recommend.

Robert
Alex was an excellent guide. She took us to some beautiful places and shared her knowledge of the places as well as her knowledge of wine growing and production

Enjoyable full day tour
We enjoyed this tour and Agate, our tour guide. She has incredible knowledge of the chateaux we visited, and it was helpful to have the background information. The wine tours in the afternoon were also nice, and we liked visiting two different types of wineries. The tour stops back in Tours for lunch as some visitors do only the morning or only the afternoon portions. It would make for a more enjoyable day if the half day bookings were separate so lunch could be in one of the smaller villages for those doing the full day.

Gorgeous must see gardens
The gardens of Villandry are gorgeous and extensive. Take the time to see them fully even if you end up skipping lunch.

Loire Valley
Château d’Azay-le-Rideau
  • Château d’Azay-le-Rideau is smaller than many other Loire Valley castles, so plan for a visit of around 1 hour.

  • For French-speaking kids, there’s a junior audio guide that brings the castle history to life.

  • Visitors under the age of 18 are free to enter, and the castle works well for family outings, with the parkland offering a perfect picnic spot along with ample shade.

  • The on-site tea room Le Lavoir is open for lunch and snacks between Easter and September.

  • Because of the historic structure’s old staircases and uneven floors, it is not fully wheelchair accessible.
