Top La Paz Snorkeling

We swam with Whale sharks… this was an incredible experience! The tour was worth every penny. The captain and tour guide were amazing. They were very thorough and very kind. It was myself, my husband, and our 2 kids ages 14 and 17. We were able to have multiple swims with the sharks and with each turn we were more and more comfortable and confident. We all agreed this was truly a once in a lifetime experience! Tuna Tuna is hands down 10/10.

This was one of the only tours that included swimming with Whale Sharks and Sea Lions on the same tour. Just be advised that the start time is dictated by the time slot the tour company is assigned the day before. It could be 7AM, 9AM, or 11AM. We had the 7AM slot and it worked out perfectly. We did both our activities and ended with lunch on a private beach in the Balandra area. We also saw a humpback whale on our way back to the marina. Group size was up to 10. If you're flexible on the day, you can check with them to see which groups are full or not. We ended up with just 5 people in our group. This made it easy to take turns swimming with Whale Sharks. We had a great time. The guide is a marine biologist and is super knowledgeable. Very good experience. Enjoyed chatting with the guide, the captain, and others in our group. Very pleased with Tuna Tours. We would book with them again.

It was amazing!! We wore shorty wetsuits and the water was warm. The visibility was poor according to our guide but we saw the whale sharks very well when we were close. We saw them both vertical feeding and swam along side. Our team was excellent: Mar was our Guide Hamza was our marine biologist and spotter —- both were very knowledgeable and took care to give us the best experience. Our captain Julio was perfect at getting us close. I definitely recommend this tour!!

It was a beautiful expedition combining many interesting elements: seeing the island of Espiritu Santo in full glory with beautiful nature, brilliant beaches, crowned with a meeting with California sea lions!Special thanks to our guide Kael, who took care of us. The crew of Azul Baja – respect!

SunRider Tours was well-organized and easy to deal with. Our guide, Juan-Manuel was awesome and very knowledgeable. Swimming with the sea lions was an amazing experience. We travelled at the beginning of Feb, so it’s chilly in the water (even with wetsuits) and it’s a lengthy boat ride too, so do be prepared with warm/windrpoof clothing. Great food and plenty of drinks - water, pop, beer etc available.

Wonderful experience. We found the staff knowledgeable, personable and professional. We had an epic encounter with many whale sharks . We appreciated the emphasis on safety and concern for the animals. We enjoyed the small group and all the information about the whale sharks. We had a 10/10 day would highly recommend.

This private tour was absolutely spectacular--in part due to the incredible natural areas we visited and also because Miguel and Regina are fantastic guides. Everyone in our party was delighted by this experience, especially snorkeling with the sea lions, tropical fish, and coral reef. A delicious lunch on a small beach in a secluded bay was the perfect way to complete our tour. It is rare for everyone in my family to equally enjoy any activity, but we all agreed that this was the highlight of our entire vacation. Highly, highly recommend!

Wow! Wow!! WOW!!! So worth it!! Our guide Fatima and boat captain Fernandito were amazing!! We had an incredible experience!! We booked the Intimate Eco-Friendly Whale Shark Encounter - Premium Service with La Paz Whale Sharks VIP Tours for our family of six: my husband, myself, and our four children, ages 12 to 15 years. We were greeted promptly and friendly at the marina and given time to be fitted into our snorkeling equipment and wetsuits before embarking on our tour! On the way, we were educated about the Whale Shark Sanctuary Area and the protections and history of the whale sharks in La Paz. Fatima was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made the entire experience a joy! Once in the Sanctuary, her and Fernando wasted no time calmly and quickly locating several whale sharks for us to observe from the boat and then swim alongside! I can't even put into words how awesome it feels to swim with one of these ocean giants! Just WOW!! I'm not going to lie, it was tiring! We had to swim along at a pretty good clip to keep up with our whale shark, but Fatima kept us on track and helped us easily while in the water. Fernando kept the boat nearby, ready for us to take breaks as needed or getting us into position to slip back into the water to swim with the whale shark again! My younger kids and I could only keep up for about 15-20 minutes at a time, but our oldest son swam along for almost the entire time. Once we got over the initial shock, swimming with the whale shark was thrilling! We had an outstanding experience with La Paz Whale Sharks VIP Tours, and we will book with them again! My only recommendation is to practice swimming and snorkeling before enjoying this adventure! My kids and I are very comfortable in the ocean and know how to snorkel. We are not avid swimmers, but we can all swim moderately well, plus the provided fins really helped. My husband is a good swimmer, but he was inexperienced with snorkeling and a bit uncomfortable in the ocean. It took him a couple of times in the water to get the hang of swimming with the whale shark, and removing his life vest actually helped give him more independent maneuverability and helped Fatima position him correctly with the whale shark. He was a little worried about sinking, but the wetsuit provided enough buoyancy, that the life jacket was not necessary. Once our time was up and everyone felt completely satisfied with the experience, we returned to the marina. We were provided water, juice, fruit, and snacks on the return trip and took a slight detour to watch a couple of dolphins in the bay! A couple of hours after returning to the dock, we received an email with our photos and videos provided by Fatima. So cool!!! Thank you Fatima, Fernandito, and VIP Tours! We don't know when we will make it back to La Paz, but when we do, we look forward to our next tour with you! P.S. - We had lunch at The Dock Cafe, and it was delicious. I strongly recommend the chilaquiles!
