Excellent Trip. Highly recommended

I would highly recommend this trip. Symi is a very beautiful island to visit and a place you will never forget. We were picked up from outside our hotel then boarded the boat at Rhodes harbour. The boat was large with 3 decks (lower, middle and top) and completely full once we departed. The boat was well crewed and it was a smooth journey around 100 minutes to Symi. Our Guide Irina was great and had extensive knowledge. She spent the day with us and provided audio equipment for a short guided walking tour upon arrival in Symi. We were then given free time to spend wondering around in Ano Symi and try the restaurants. On the way back the boat stopped for a swimming stop in the crystal clear waters of St George Bay. We then returned back to Rhodes mid-afternoon and transferred back to our hotel.

A Great Day Out

Great trip. Visiting Symi was recommended to us by the taxi driver who took us from the airport to our hotel. We’re glad we took their advice. Symi really is a beautiful place to go. Being on a self-guided tour meant we could go at our own pace, stop somewhere for as long as we wanted and also have a coffee or lunch to suit ourselves. The monastery is well worth a visit too, and the chapel there is lovely inside. The 4* rating is no reflection on the tour or value for money. Rather there’s not much information when you book, while pick-up details are not given until midday on the day before you travel. Everything on the day went smoothly but a little more upfront information would be useful. Overall a great day that cannot be faulted.

The tour guide was very...

The tour guide was very informative and friendly, providing clear instructions throughout the day. Unfortunately the weather was not great and the sea was very choppy, so the trip to the monastery was cancelled. Hence the tour was basically a return trip to Symi from Rhodes. Symi was very pretty and we were given 3 hours free time to explore with an optional 1-hour guided tour by the tour guide. We opted to skip the guided tour and wandered round the town on our own. If we had gotten to see the monastery as well, then the tour would have been worth the money - unfortunately (due to no fault of the tour provider), we did end up paying a lot for what was essentially a return ferry to Symi. We still had a lovely time and kudos to the tour guide for keeping us informed of the situation with the weather.

The island is beautiful...

The island is beautiful and a must see, however it is unbearably hot and there is no shade whatsoever. I would advise not doing the tour and just getting a fast boat to the island and going swimming. Standing in the boiling heat with no shade listening to a tour guide is uncomfortable, although it is important to add our tour guide was lovely. The trip to the island took a lot longer than I thought, I would advise sitting outside so you can get a breeze whilst on the boat. Although the boat had air con inside, you wouldn’t have noticed as it was so hot.

A lovely place to visit...

A lovely place to visit and explore the area around the harbour with lots of small shops and places to eat. The nearest beach to the harbour was a bit disappointing though as it was mainly bits of concrete and broken pots and tiles. The Monastery was lovely to visit on the way and the boat ride was smooth with great views of Turkey as we passed.
