Amazing houseboat experience in Kochi!
Our tour guide was awesome! His English was excellent and he told us many interesting things on the way to the houseboat. The houseboat and the staff on it were great and the meal that was cooked right there on the boat for us was wonderful! Our tour guide made sure he got us back to our cruise ship before the deadline and the whole experience was amazing. We highly recommend this trip!

A good day out
It's a long drive from the cruise port to the backwater area (about 2 hours). There wasn't a loo on our trip as the boat was one of the smaller ones (lots of space for our group, but not big enough for a loo). However, the guide will make loo stops if asked. It's a lovely boat ride looking out at how the local canal-siders live their days. A few were out doing their washing in the waterways. Our guide also gave us the option of going for a short walk on the canal side, which was lovely. Lunch wasn't provided on the boat, but in a hotel on the way back. It consisted of local food, which was a nice touch rather than the international buffet on cruise excursions, provided you like relatively spicy food. Our guide was very friendly and gave us a short tour around the fishing nets area back in Kochi. A good day out.

Very interesting and unique area to visit.
An enjoyable day and very worthwhile.
It’s a two hour coach ride from the Port with a real challenge for the driver due to huge ongoing roadworks.
The guides were informative during the drive and gave useful information about the area and past history.
However at the Boat boarding area things went a bit awry, we were stood in the hot Sun for about 45-55 minutes waiting for the boat with a fair bit of confusion and lack of information.
( After a two hour coach trip this lack of coordination needs addressing.)
However, once on the Boat this peaceful and scenic trip was amazing and interesting ,seeing the Houseboats and villages along the way.
This interesting and fertile backwater deserves a visit and was enjoyable.
It’s a lovely and relaxing experience with a very good freshly cooked lunch served up.
A tiring but interesting and very worthwhile day.
Please coordinate the bus arrival times with boat availability and sailing to make it slicker for future visitors.

Worth a try for a serene morning on the water
Friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to understand guides. Speakers on the bus in need of repair so it was a bit painful on the ears to hear their informative narration, which is why I docked 1 star. The houseboat experience was lovely. It’s about 2 hours each way to get there, so prepare for a long bus ride. Houseboat experience very serene. Not a thrilling or super fun shore excursion but it was an interesting experience and I’m glad we did it.

Mainly good, but spoilt somewhat by length of coach journeys
The coach journeys to and back from the embarkation point - they were too long, and the coach could not return because of a mechanical issue and a replacement had to be arranged, leading to anxiety that we might not get back to the cruise port on time

Great trip. Long journey but worth it
The lunch on the houseboat was fabulous. Such a lovely setting and freshly prepared Keralan food. The journey to the houseboats was approx 2 hours each way. Our visit to the fishing nets was short but interesting.
