Things to do in  Isle of Skye

Scotland's second largest island, covering an area more than twice that of Singapore, the Isle of Skye is a pocket of wilderness linked to the coast of the West Highlands by the Skye Bridge. With its dramatic sea cliffs, windswept valleys, theatrical rock formations, and glittering pools, waterfalls, and lochs, the island is a treat for nature lovers and film-makers alike.

On the slopes of the Isle of Skye’s Black Cuillin mountains, near Glen Brittle, the vivid blue pools known as the Fairy Pools are so otherworldly it’s easy to imagine how they got their name. One of the island’s top attractions, the Fairy Pools draw visitors keen to snap photos and (if brave) take a bracing dip.

One of the Isle of Skye’s most loved natural wonders, the Old Man of Storr is a 164-foot (50-meter) high rocky pinnacle that juts out from the otherworldly Trotternish Ridge. Shrouded in legend and folklore that claim it to be a giant’s thumb (among other things), the Old Man of Storr is a favorite of sightseers, hillwalkers, and photographers.
