Q: How long is the hike to the top of Mt Sinai?

There are two separate routes to the top of Mt. Sinai. The Steps of Repentance include 3,000 rock-cut steps, and the Camel Trail offers a more gently sloping path. Both trails meet for the 750-step climb to the summit. Most travelers choose the Camel Trail, which takes about two hours.

Q: Are there tours to Mount Sinai?

Yes. There are tours to Mt. Sinai from Dahab, Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada, Cairo, and even Eilat in Israel: Dahab and Sharm el Sheikh are the best bases. Tours normally leave in the evening and drive overnight so you can climb the mountain for sunrise then visit St. Catherine’s Monastery.

Inside the church also are boxes that contain the body of Saint Catherine. In addition, on the other side of the church, you can find the holy valley, which is considered the most holy area in Sinai. Spectacular Sunrise

Amazing experience. Driver and guide were very helpful. The walk up the mountain was pretty strenuous and the Bedouin guide wouldn't let anyone stop to drink water. Seemed like they wanted people to hire camels. Once at the top the sunrise was spectacular. Something everyone should do, but probably only once.

Bring the warmest clothes you own even for those experienced in cold weather. Double layer socks, 2 shirts, poncho or jacket, thermal pants. The hike is challenging and occurs in complete darkness but is absolutely safe. You will complete the hike with both a tour guide and a Bedouin guide (2 helpers). There are multiple shelters and stops on the way that serve food. It is a 3 hour hike for those in excellent shape with no stops for rest. Most rewarding hike of my life as a follower of Christ.

Definitely recommend, the tour company was very communicative and responsive ahead of time, letting us know what we needed to pack and bring with us. The hike itself was tough, but there were plenty of breaks provided which really helped. It can get cold at the top so definitely take warmer clothing and coats. It’s a long trip overall so be prepared, but the views are absolutely worth it.

Blessed Trip, we started from the hotel the guide picked up, and we reached the monastery by 1 AM, started hiking toward the summit and reached by 5 AM, had a blessed time in the summit, my eyes saw the place where mosus received the word of God means the 10 Commandments. Joyfully came down and visited the burning bush.
