Parón Lake – Full Day Parón Lake is the largest lake in the Cordillera Blanca, known for its intense turquoise color and stunning surrounding peaks such as Pirámide de Garcilaso and Artesonraju. This is an extreme mountain biking trips over the single-track of the Cordillera Huayhuash Cordillera and one of the most beautiful rides in the world. The rocky formations are impressive and rise elegantly to the sky. Here you’ll find the second highest mountain in Peru: Yerupajá Grande (6,634 m.) Visitors will be able to see the snowcapped peaks, glaciers, blue lakes and impressive landscapes. During the trek, we’ll cross 8 mountain passes, including the highest at 5,000 meters. The trail isn’t very difficult to hike, but to ride on two wheels via the not-very-well-marked route is quite demanding. Some sections require that you carry or push your bike on a mule trail/single track that presents difficult steep or very rocky sections. About Artesonraju Peak: Artesonraju (6,025 m) is one of the approximately 50 peaks of the Cordillera Blanca known especially for its exceptional settings for mountaineering. Pyramidal and completely covered in ice and snow all year, this mountain of unequalled beauty is situated between the two gorges of the Santa Cruz Massif to the north and the Parón to the south. It’s frequently considered the iconic mountain in the Paramount pictures introduction. From its high plateau alongside the Paron Gorge, it is 1,025 meters to the peak. It can usually be climbed in 8-12 hours round-trip. According to the International French Adjectival System (IFAS), it’s categorized as TD+: very difficult +, on the route of the South Ridge, and D: Difficult, via the “normal” route. Artesonraju offers two primary ascent routes: The first runs through the North Edge, born in the Santa Cruz Gorge, while the second rises via the southeast face from Parón Lake, at the end of the gorge of the same name.

About Nevado Quitaraju: Quitaraju is situated south-eastwards of Alpamayo. Obviously Quitaraju does not get half as much attention as Alpamayo does, there are even more parties climbing the Alpamayo, but less parties climbing has the Nevado Quitaraju. It is a really nice mountain with great views of it’s south face, the Alpamayo, Artesonrajo, Huascaran(s), Chopicalqui. The easiest route is W ridge, graded AD, but very very long, sustained and steep in places. North face is really nice, being graded D, 700m, inclination of about 55° degrees. Different variants have different grades, so a tougher climber could find some 60-70 degree climbing going some 50m left or right from the arete in upper part of the face.
