Boats leave Ross Castle at 10.30am only each morning and travel to Lord Brandon's Cottage in the Gap of Dunloe. Highlights along the way include a visit to Innisfallen Island to see the 7th century Monastic ruins and the chance to see some of our White Tailed Eagles. The distance from Lord Brandon's Cottage to Killarney is 25km, cyclists should be aware of some steep ascents and descents. Good news is that this isn't a race! After having lunch at Lord Brandon's Cottage, cyclists can travel through the Gap of Dunloe at their leisure. Stopping to have a drink at the Kate Kearney's Cottage is definitely recommended before continuing to Killarney. This is a great way to see the Gap of Dunloe at your own pace. Please note that bike rental is not included in the tour, nor is the cycle guided. Passengers must secure their own bike rental in Killarney before progressing to Ross Castle.

The Park Explorer Tour is the only half day tour of Killarney National Park. It is a great opportunity for families or those on a tight schedule to visit areas of the Park that they might not find themselves. The tours has 3 elements; a bus tour, a boat tour and a 5km walk through the National Park. Along the way, passengers will visit the monastic ruins on Innisfallen Island, the beautiful café in Dinis Cottage and have a chance to see the biggest bird of prey in Europe; the White Tailed Eagle. The walk through the National Park is on a road that is closed to any motor traffic and has Lake views on both sides. The walk is along a sealed, flat road and there is no rush because the bus has multiple departure times from Muckross House. At the end of the walk, passengers can enjoy exploring Muckross House and Gardens, have lunch at the lovely Restaurant before catching the bus back to Killarney (15 minutes), departure times are as follows: 1.02pm, 2.02pm, 3.02pm, 4.40pm, 5.30pm.

Great experiences for families

We had a great time on our jaunting car tour. Definitely give this a try if you are traveling with young kids. We covered a lot of ground that we could not have done on foot (or by bike). This was a lovely way to start our morning in Killarney before we started out by car for the coast. Our driver was on time, kind, and friendly. Our daughter loved the experience, and the 10-15 minute stop at Ross Castle was plenty. (Because there are A LOT of castles in Ireland.)
