All Douz Tours & Excursions in 2026

Go beyond a day trip with this Ksar Ghilane overnight tour from Douz. Depart at 13:30 and arrive around 16:00 to visit the historic castle and oasis, then check in to a hotel in the oasis. Swim in the thermal hot spring, walk among the palms and watch the sunset over the dunes. Dinner is followed by an overnight stay. After breakfast, leave around 10:00 and return to Douz around 12:00. Includes Douz pickup and drop off, 4x4 transport, dinner, breakfast and a local driver guide. Lunch is not included.

Trade the town for the deep Sahara on an overnight 4x4 expedition from Douz to Tembaine, the mountain the Berber call "the mountain seen from afar". Two and a half hours across the dunes of the Grand Erg Oriental bring you to Tiniri Camp, where you can sandboard the soft slopes before the sun drops. Watch sunset turn the whole erg gold from the top of the dunes, then gather around a large campfire for bread baked in the hot sand, a mixed traditional dinner and a sky thick with stars. Sleep in a comfortable desert tent and wake for sunrise over the dunes before breakfast and the drive back to Douz.

This isn't a cooking class in a restaurant or a professional kitchen. You're invited into our family home in Douz, where my mother will share how she prepares traditional Tunisian couscous for our family. You'll cook alongside her, discover the ingredients and spices used in our everyday cooking, and learn the little tips that are usually passed down within families. It's a relaxed, personal experience with time to ask questions, share stories, and get a glimpse of everyday life in southern Tunisia. After cooking, we'll enjoy the couscous together, just as we would at home. Our home also has a garden with palm trees, adding to the atmosphere of this family experience.
