Dijon’s famous yellow condiment is a far cry from what you'll find atop the average hot dog. Although there are plenty of tastings to be done in the city, gourmand day trips incorporate not just mustard, but other specialties, including charcuterie, chocolate, and gingerbread. Most famous of all is the wine. Beaune, with its historic main square and brightly tiled hôtel de ville, is the epicenter, but no Dijon day trip is complete without heading into the countryside. The area is full of UNESCO-listed sites, including the 18th century Burgundy canal and the well-preserved medieval village of Semur-en-Auxois.
