Just enjoy the walk
Put on long trousers and depending on the weather take an umbrella with you.
Binoculars aren't necessary.

Our night walk was with a...
Our night walk was with a group of 5 people and a guide. We enjoyed it but there were so many groups out at the same time on the same trail so it was a bit difficult to spot animals. We saw quite a few frogs, a sloth and the best part was seeing a porcupine.

It’s such an amazing experience, Andres the owner and Hector our guide were very friendly and acknowledgeable. They made it their mission to get us an amazing view of any animal we can across for both the canoe and hike. The binocular, ponchos, life vests and boots provided were of very high quality. We highly recommend this tour if you’re staying in tortuguero.

What a great day in the jungle
This was a premium experience, pickup in private car, super comfy and nice and cool. Our guide and driver drove our party of 3. We stopped and saw Sloths thanks to eagle eye guide. We had great informative conversations about Costa Rica which only enriched our experience. When we got to tortuguerro we began our bout ride which was a blast, breakfast and lunch was great very cool Tico stops. I could say more but will leave some of the cool stuff for you to see yourself, it's a great tour job at book it for a super cool experience. Thank you Ronnie, and Ronnie#2 (our boat captain. Pura vida.

It is an interesting boat trip
It is a nice and interesting day trip.
Firstly the boat trip on the river is very interesting , along the river we were able to see a lot small animals, birds, even crocodiles.
The only thing I hope it can be improved is the meals.

Warren was our guide...
Warren was our guide during the night tour, and it was unbelievable the amount of animals he spotted. Next to all the animals we saw, we learned a lot and not to forget, the fun facts he was able to tell us about the animals. The best end of our visit of Torteguero we could think of.

Amazing experience
The experience was full of surprises, amazing memorable trip. The pick up to food to stay, everything amazing. It was relaxing, nice break for professionals to be in the forest setup by the sea, retirees that can sit back and enjoy the views and birds, and nice honeymoon spot for young couples.

Fantastic wildlife
6am tour is amazing for animal spotting. We did not spend much time in the actual canals but maybe better to book a kayak tour if this is important to you.

People Also Ask
How many days do you need in Tortuguero National Park?
Aim to spend 2-3 days in Tortuguero National Park. It can take quite a long time to reach the park from other parts of Costa Rica so it’s better to spend more than one day. However, the town here is small so you don’t need to stay for too long.
Is Tortuguero National Park worth it?
Yes, Tortuguero National Park is worth visiting for its wildlife and birdwatching, unspoiled landscapes, and remote destination. It can take quite a while to get here and there aren’t the same range of high-end resorts as there are in some parts of Costa Rica, so Tortuguero tends to appeal to travelers who prefer rugged adventures in nature.
What are the best months to visit Tortuguero National Park?
Many people come to the Tortuguero National Park to see the nesting turtles. This takes place during March–May and July–October (the difference depends on the species). February-March and September-October are the driest times of year in this wet region. Although August is the wettest, it’s also peak turtle time, so is arguably the best month to visit.
Which is better out of Manuel Antonio and Tortuguero National Park?
Both Manuel Antonio National Park and Tortuguero National Park are worth visiting—but which you prefer depends on your priorities. Manuel Antonio is easier to access from other parts of Costa Rica, and offers great beaches and resorts. Tortuguero is more remote but offers a rugged, wildlife-rich experience that’s less developed.
Can you swim in the sea at Tortuguero National Park?
No, it’s not advisable to swim in the sea in Tortuguero National Park, although you may see some locals doing so. This area of Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast has strong currents and big waves; there are crocodiles and sharks in the water, and the beaches aren’t patrolled by lifeguards. Book a hotel with a pool to swim in Tortuguero.
Are there jaguars in Tortuguero National Park?
Yes, there are jaguars in Tortuguero National Park. Jaguars are drawn there to hunt the endangered nesting turtles. Though this might sound unfortunate, scientists have found that the two species have developed a symbiotic relationship that promotes the overall biodiversity of the park.
